Driving Feels Wierd

Maybe this is just a strange observation to me, but today's ride home it was 112 degrees when I left the office. I took my longer route home, which is about 12 miles, and ends with a nice big hill.

Just as I was pulling into the driveway, extremely hot, a temperature alarm goes off on my phone letting me know there is a problem in our datacenter. Not really in the mood to do that ride again so soon, I hop in the wife's car and head to the office.

I have been commuting daily, even in winter, for about 18 months now. What I soon discovered is that not only had I completely lost touch with what it was like to drive a car in rush hour traffic, all the billboards and even some businesses had changed along the route. It was almost like being in a different town.

I wish that someday I will have that feeling myself.

I had that feeling as well the first time I drove after my two week tour. But only for a couple of minutes.

What was really weird, however, was the feeling of wearing pants for the first time in 16 days. My legs had been bare for more than two weeks, and it was strange having them covered.

I know what you mean feeling strange driving. Iíve been commuting by bike for three years now. This Wednesday it was 107 here. People think Iím nuts riding in the heat. O-well! Better than being in a cage any day.
