I don't think anyone is really worried about the color of a jersey. I really don't think color matters much on skin tight clothing haha. Personally I have day-glo, yellow, silver, bright red, and even neon pink. Black is perfectly fine on shorts as the color makes the...package blend in better

FOR THE LOVE OF THE FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTER DO NOT POST THAT PICTURE OF THE RACE TEAM IN A RED AND WHITE KIT!!

Any recommendations on where to find good biking clothes online?

Also any recommendations on good baggy/cargo type shorts for riding?

+1 Wearing bright clothing can not prevent you from getting hurt, just like wearing a helmet does not guarantee that I won't sustain massive head injuries if a car hits me with high enough speed. However, I want to make sure that I am as visible as possible so that even a slightly inattentive driver will notice me because I stand out so much from my surroundings. On a recent ride I saw a rider coming up the road on the opposite side nearly 1/3 of a mile out during my morning commute. He was wearing a vi-vis coat and it made him stand out very clearly. Only after I noticed that rider did I see a rider in front of me that was about 1/10 of a mile ahead of me, but they were wearing black and dark brown and were passing through an area with large trees over head. The cyclist in dark cloths was hard to see and I am always on the lookout for fellow cyclists.

I mostly wear yellow in the summer. I know that hi-vis lime yellow is a bit more visible, but I like the look of regular yellow a bit better even if it is not quite a visible. I also have two orange shirts but try to only wear them on very sunny days. I've noticed that orange tends to look dark like brown in the shade much easier than a nice bright yellow. White is supposed to be an excellent hi-contrast color. I've read that white cars for instance are the most visible. However I don't want yellowing armpits from all the sweating I do... therefore Yellow is bright, but doesn't look dirty either. For riding at dusk and dawn, and night time, I will wear an ANSI Class II rated vest to ensure that I have the brightest most visible clothing possible.

As far as the link between Yellow and Lance... The Maillot Jaune has been around since 1913 so yellow and the Tour de France have been linked for a long time. For a fun, I'd still like to buy the Crash Test Dummy jersey from Love to Depal:

Happy riding... in bright clothing,
André

Dude. Seriously. If I were Gina, I would get that pic framed and get prints to carry in the purse. Great pose. There's an idea for her next birthday.

I am known around town as Big Bird when I am spotted wearing a yellow jersey. Just got a XXXL today that says OLD FART CYCLING CLUB with multicolors. I want to be seen. I also use a Planet Bike Blinkie rear light which can be seen well during the day and awesome at night. Visability is key for me. I could care less what I look like. Guess that is old age kicking in.

I'm not sure where to look in Germany but you could always click the contact us link from an online retailer and ask if they will ship internationally. You might want to look up arrow tech designs, Peal Issumi, Performance Bike, Nashbar...really the list goes on and on. However these are US retailers. Maybe you aught to join a bicycle club near you or start asking other friends who cycle.

The baggy shorts you are interested are referred to as Mountain Bike shorts for some reason. They are essentially a pair of nylon cargo shorts that are stitched over a regular pair of bike shorts. Cost wise they are about the same as regular bike shorts but I would recommend buying a good pair or shorts and wearing your favorite pair of gym shorts over them if modesty is an issue.

i was wondering the same thing about the helmet. and I was talking to my little sister last night and we both came to the conclusion that a cycling jersey is ment to be a absurd and crazy as possible, because its really all about having fun

Why be an easy target?

You can really see that lime green or yellow in dim light. Black is not a Good Career Move.

I buy highway worker T shirts with lime green and reflective stripes from SafeyDepot.com. Have those and their reflective vests in orange and lime.

If you wear XXXL, they can see you easier. I wear XXL, so they can't see me as well. I worry about the ferrets in S and M.

I'm not sure how much high vis really prevents you from getting hit. I go for colors that no self respecting or not so self respecting person would want smeared across their windshield. high vis colors do tend to meet that criteria I used to have a jacket that had nuclear waste green sleeves. who wants that on their car

You got a link to these jerseys? I'm an old school Cap fan and I would really dig a Cap Shield or Avengers jersey!
