Need help with tire trouble!

Hi everybody! I wanted to see if anyone could give me some advice on a tire issue. I've had a Fuji absolute 4.0 Hybrid and never had a flat after around 1000 miles on it since I got it in January. I've been dropping weight pretty steady! I currently weigh 320 lbs. I don't look like I weigh that much because I have a pretty muscular and tall frame, so the guy who fitted me for my new bike might not have considered it when I got my new one this week.

I got a great deal on a 2009 Trek 1.2 road bike. I've rode about 10 miles on it and ended up with a pinch flat. I love this bike. I really do. 10 miles was enough to make me hate that hybrid. The road conditions aren't great here, and combined with my weight I'm afraid the 700x25c tire is going to keep getting these flats. Is there an option as far as tubes that I can look into and still keep the same tire size? Can I over inflate the back tire to compensate? Or do I just need to hang up the Trek and ride the Fuji until I've knocked off some more weight? Any help would be appreciated!

Hubris man, hubris. The flat fairy is gonna be hanging out at your place for this for a LOOOOONNNNG time.

320 lbs on 25c tires should be ok if you keep the air pressure way up. But then there's the flat fairy issue. . .

How much pressure did you have in it? Run it at least at the max listed on the sidewall.

Stock tires suck! Especially the stock Bontragers on Trek roadies. I replace the tires even before the bike hits the pavement for the first time. They just suck! Get some good tires and you will not have that problem. Inflate to max pessure to avoid pinch flats.

Keep them over 100 psi and watch out for uneven pavement seams and potholes.

I switched from 23's to 28's a couple of years ago for just that reason, I got sick of flats. I went to Panaracer Pasela TG's, run over 100# of pressure and haven't had a flat in over two years.

And ride lighter. That means using your arms and legs to soak up most of the bumps of life. Your bike has a saddle...not a seat! It's called a saddle because you don't just sit on it but you sort of hover over it. It supports you but you don't just sit on it.

Thanks for the tips gang, I got home and checked the tire and couldn't find any leaks. Pumped it up to 105 pounds and it has yet to bleed. Gonna take it for a 20 mile spin today. I'll see how it does. I'll watch out for the flat fairy.

Nix that! Found the leak. It was wire that was so small I couldn't see it. I was a bit paranoid and pulled the tube out completely and put it in the pool. The wire was so tiny I couldn't believe I found it. I'm definitely going to take the advice above and get a tougher tire. Got the tube replaced and heading out with my pops for a Sunday 20 miler. The old man is still kicking it on his Wal-Mart brand "mountain" bike. 15 years on that thing, bless his soul. He makes me feel fast though!
