55 year old clyde. Not a cyclist, but...wow

This guy swam the entire length of the Amazon (3,274 miles) over 66 days. He started at 250 and ended at 206. Oh, and he drank 2 bottles of wine every day.

I swam the Amazon

Thanks, but I will keep swimming in my local swimming pool with treated water. Amazing feat, but no way.

Isn't that the Amazon River dolphin? I think it'd be the parasites I'd be most afraid of, you can't seem 'em coming.

Yeah, river dolphin! I think they are like 200% harmless to humans. But they LOOK upsetting is the problem.

Anyway rad job Amazon guy! But I get the heebie-jeebies just thinking about it. In my Spanish class, the teacher asked me if I wanted to go to the Amazon jungle, and I said no, because of the giant bugs. She asked me if I would prefer a CLEAN Amazon?? So I laughed and said no, but I was probably lying.

I'd be pretty worried about the toothpick fish ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candiru

Swimmers who excel in cold water endurance events are usually naturally "insulated" which also assists with buoyancy. Read sometime about the woman who swam in Antartica waters 32F wearing just a swimsuit, cap and goggles (Lynne Cox).
