Oh yeah.. that's why I do this!!

I've found myself occasionally getting carried away with banter here and elsewhere about how far we go, how fast, how high, etc. but for me that's really not the point of all this.

Went to the doctor today to get a thingy on my inner thigh looked at (cyst -- a not so good thing that comes with cycling apparently).

While there discussed my BP / BP meds and weight. My BP is down to 100/64. Doc is cutting my BP med dose down and said I may be able to come off it! Also, said that this would actually make my HR more responsive during hard efforts while cycling.. no idea how that works, but it sounded good.

Getting ready for a ride right now and looking at my HRM while I type this note.. 48 (a bit over half what it was a year ago!!). Nice.

Cycling is cool. Time to go for a pedal.

Great job! When it comes down to it, I ride for health and fitness. My family is about 90% diabetics. 5 unlces, 4 aunts, grandparents, parents but not me!

Keep up the good work.

That's awsome! My wife got to drop one of her diabetes meds after about a year of riding. Only one to go. It sure is nice to get good news from the doctor. Congratulations.

Outstanding! Lower BP, resting heart rate, getting blood sugar under control, and tons of other things are the huge upside.

Sorry, I can't agree. While I'm happy the OP is happy with the changes in his life, the C/A Forum is NOT about weight loss.

It's about a lot of things shared by people that are built bigger than the average cyclist.

One of them is using cycling a way to help get fit. As I mentioned, I'm just as happy to discuss racing, touring, climbing, and as of this evening technical single track MTB riding..... or should I say tumbling down cliffs into streambeds... but, that's another thread.

I started riding to get fit, and while kicking a tiny butt on a climb or club ride is briefly satisfying, the real reason I keep riding is fitness. Simple as that.

You seem kinda bitter.. go take a pedal.

Sorry, not bitter at all. Just tired of the knee-jerk assumption that if a fat person is on a bike, it's to lose weight.
