I broke out the trainer yesterday....

It's been cold and rainy for the last 4 days so I broke out the trainer yesterday. Didn't expect to ride it so soon. I didn't use it until the 2nd week of January last winter.

I forgot how much that thing hurts -- I did a steady 20 miles with a few progressive resistance intervals mixed in. It was hard, but not intense like a DVD workout. I just wanted to reacquaint myself with the machine. I was on it for 1:09:30. The last 4 miles were mind numbing. I don't know what it is about the trainer, but I totally lose focus somewhere between 45 minutes and an hour. The secret for me is to time my workouts for 50 minutes total with warm up and cool down.

Sounds like a smart start!...No trainers here, yet, maybe not at all. Last week was cool riding, tights and windbreakers. This week, hot again, we just might end up riding nekkid!

I can't stand the thought of riding the trainer but I guess with the cold days coming I may have to! Anyone know of any good videos to watch while riding? I want some kind of virtual ride type video.

I'm surprised nobodys made a trainer interface to the Wii yet. A bike tour/race game would be the bomb. Somebodys been slacking over at Nintendo.

Here ya go.... http://www.cafemom.com/dailybuzz/hea...n_the_Basement

I have also read where people will place the Wii controller in their sock while on a stationary bike using the jogging exercise on Wii fit instead of running in place.

Go figure,

I stay away from my trainer as much as I can. I usually end up on it when the spring winds start to howl in Colorado in March and April. I ride year round in the rain, snow, and the cold. The wind however, cracks me more than the mind numbing boredom of the trainer.
