intro and bike pic
Hi, been lurking a bit, posted a little and saw that I have been violating some forum rules:
Being somewhat of a conformist, I submit the following picture of my new Trek 1.2, with desire for extra points, as it is in front of my white garage door.
My story:
I was 319 pounds on January 29th when I started a program with a commercial weight loss center here in the twin cities. Following their program, and then upping my exercise, I hit my goal 10 days ago of 199.
My wife, who had not ridden a bike in 17 years decided to start riding this Spring. We bought her a Trek 4000, which is the kind of ride she wanted. I didn't expect it to get many rides before she got bored with it. 1 month later she is riding every day and bugging me to go with her. By this time I was down to about 280 and decided to give it a try again. Took the old Nishiki down from the hook, where it had hung for about 10 years and went with her.
Pretty soon, we took the bike ride on the Cannon Valley trail, we did about 20 miles on that. Then the bike tour around St. Paul, for 30 miles. Finally the Bike tour around Minneapolis for 39 miles.
I now find myself looking forward to getting on the bike and making a 13 - 15 mile loop in the evening before it gets dark. Would never have believed that a year ago.

Awesome job on the goals. It is always nice being able to ride with your spouse.
Congrats on the new bike and good job on the conformity. I broke the rules a little and didn't get any bonus points because my garage door is blue

Welcome, I broke way to many points when I joined, don't worry we all do. Just like op, crank arms not lined up right, in small rind, reflector on the front wheel, oh the horrors...lol

Remember that the white garage door is for road and geared commuter bike only. Fixies must be photographed in front of a brick wall full of graffiti, and MTBs must be on the trail (with dirty tires, if Mr. Beanz has any say in it!)

"Fixie" refers to fixed gear. The rear sprocket is "fixed" to the rear wheel. If the back wheel is turning, so are the pedals. Pedal forward, the bike goes forward; pedal backwards, the bike goes backwards; stop pedaling and bike/rear wheel stops. This contrasts with a single speed which would have a coaster brake, like the first bikes we had when we were kids.
