I'm having a small problem. I've been doing between 5-10 miles after work in 20 - 40 minutes and my legs are hurting pretty bad during the ride. I can only pedal around 30-40 seconds before they feel like they are on fire. It's not some bad kind of pain, but it's the feeling like they have exerted all the energy they can and they just need a break. When i get home my legs feel a bit tired but within 1-2 hours they feel fine again. I know I'm not riding that far and I'm only averaging around 13 MPH on somewhat flat/hilly roads. Anyone know if my diet can be affecting this? I would think after the last 11 days riding daily 5-13 miles each day that my legs would start to last a bit longer.. maybe I'm just expecting things to happen too quick?

Your doing fine. Give yourself more time to adjust. Are you riding all out on every ride? If so, slow down and relax some. Ride hard one day a week, ride for distance one day a week, and just ride around any other day you can. You will see more of a difference when you start adding longer rides.

Switch the gearing to a lower one...save those legs a little bit and maybe get a higher cadence out of it. As you acclimate, you can start pushing a higher gear.

Welcome to the club! Just keep riding every day - regardless of speed, distance, or hills - and, have some fun doing it!

I started on my Felt F95 at 310lbs riding on roads that aren't the smoothest.

They have lower end rims, Alex R500 with 32 spoke front and rear, no problems yet after more than 1000 miles.

So I've sorta hit a wall at 302. It's getting a bit more cold out the last ride I've taken was 7 days ago. I played a football game around 4 days ago full contact no pads.. I could barely walk the next day. I've been going from 301 to 306 depending on what I do that day. I took a 35 mile ride last saturday and the next morning I was down to 301 ( probably still a bit under on water weight ) ... Joining a local gym today to get another option of exercise.

In other news I broke my first spoke at the end of the 35 miles. 110 miles on the bike and 1 spoke broken. I guess that's not awful.
