If you're like me, not very fast recreatonal rider, you might appreciate this tire. This is the toughest I've seen so far. I put 5000 miles plus on this tire this year, not one flat under my heavy arse!

I used it on trail rides and plenty of mtn training rides this year. Plenty of debris , rocks, sand and other stuff in the mtns, and not one flat. Tire did seem to be a little heavy but did it really slow me down? I don't thinks so and if it did, not much and I aint racing!

I used a 700 X 25 tire (wire bead) so if you're a slow rider like me and want a tire that will last for rec riding, give it a try.

Buds have the newer race version but I've head plenty complaints about punctures with the new lighter version. But this is the real thing. The real one and only original Armadillo! I laugh and tell my buds that this thing can stand in the center of a room by itself. Was I lying?

After I took it off, I realized just how bdly the tire was worn but still....NO FLAT TIRES IN 5,000 miles!

these are the tires I have on 3 bikes. 2 27" bikes and a 700c bike. I've also been very happy with mine. between the 3 bikes last year I racked up a little over 2,000 miles, so I should be good for all of next year too!

Those are the same I have on my commuter/road bike. Seem to be doing alright so far!

How much do you usually pay for these, and where to buy?

I paid about $40 at a tandem shop. But that was few years ago and the shop is gone.

I've had good luck with Gatorskins so far, but I might buy these next time for a good comparison. I hear Armadillo's are terrible when it rains or in wet conditions. Have any experience with that?

I can't comment on wet conditions, haven't had to deal with it her in Califorrrrrrnia! Light drizzle once or twice but that's it and prolly doesn't qualify as "wet conditions" experience!:

I had similar experience with mine as Beanz - also wore them down right to the cords without a single flat. I did use them the last two winters here (our rainy season) and didn't notice any handling problems, but I tend to take it fairly easy around sharp turns anyway when it's wet.

But I did feel that the bike was noticeably slower with the Armadillos and I don't plan to get any more of them despite the good wrt flats.

they are perfectly fine in the rain. for speed I crank mine up to 120 psi

I guess I have a ways to go. I got 8 miles on my tires. I put it on my MTB so speed isn't an issue. I have had a flat with my regular MTB tires, but I was looking for something with lower rolling resistance when I'm on the road or paved trail. The LBS recommended them because of the tread pattern and wear.

I have had good luck with Vitoria Randonnuer tires 700x28. I have not had a flat in eons. I don't baby tires either. I have intentionally ran over glass and other road debris and they just keep on going.
