My Mtn Climb up GMR Today Ride Video

Figured I'd do a video riding up GMR so those that have never had the GMR experience could see it second hand. Maybe even inspire some of the other forum members them to get up there!....I rode easy but I think the holidays have already got the best of me. I must warn you that the downhill video is pretty shakey thanks to the poorly mounted Flip. I tried the grippy tripod that came with the camera package. Well I know it aint to good for high speed descents! But those that have never been up will get the picture!

Only did the 8 miles to the shack. Usually do the 21 to the village but I was just testing the video.

I did meet a couple of gals on the way up as I stopped to pose. Ended up riding with one of them for a bit, darn good rider and climber. I was huffing and puffing trying to keep up as we talked.

Nice video Mr Beanz! What kind of mount are you using?
I made one from a plastic water bottle top, a hose clamp and a 1/4x20 bolt and nuts.
It vibrates with the bike and transfers all the noise from the frame to the camera.

Thought you'd never ask! It's a tripod, grippy flexy thingy. I was just testing it out, test failed! On the way up, just held it in my hand. Didn't want to take the chance on the way down!

My little grippy friend. Cool for fences and poles but sucks on the handlebars!

Impressive scenery and climb. Tell me though, the uninitiated, what is the GMR?

Glendora Mountain Rd. (GMR)....8 mile section of my usual training climb. Which then connects to GRR (Glendora Ridege Rd) 13 mile section which takes you to Baldy Village.

21 mile climb with 5000 ft of climbing. Very popular training/ride in SoCal.

You need to figure out a way to attach it to your helmet. That'd make much better pictures.

I second that. Its amazing how steady your head is, if you're going to use a handlebar mount its got to be super solid.

Awesome video, wish I was there.

Yeah, I know, been trying to figure out something and looking for mounts. Well, another member said it made him want to puke so here's the descent with some Helter Skelter music, that'll do it!....Maybe a little extra footage.

Duct tape the tripod to your helmet! Well, it might look like some brain-sucker has attacked you though!(imagined conversation - "Why Mr. Beanz, what's that on your helmet?" "Brain Sucker." "What's it doing?" "Starving." - sorry, couldn't help that one! ;0))
Looks like an incredible ride! Keep on posting the pics and vids!

I think a helmet mount will be the thing, but here's a low buck handlebar mount I made from a reflector mount and a bolt.

Perfect! I was thinking about using an incredi-i-bell, seems pretty secure. But that look pretty good, and easier to rig. I wasn't really wanting to thrash a bell!

Hillbasher sent me a link to a mount, very smilar to your reflector mount, only about $5...........................http://www.google.com/products?hl=en...QrQQwAAProduct Search

But I will be looking to track down an old refelctor bracket that I may have seen in my box of stuff!

Yup! Just ordered a "brainsucker" mount. I did the reflector mount conversion (Herbies idea). Worked great but a little too much vibration for the upright rectangular Flip. Would be nice with a low profile cam but the Flip is high and vibes alot.

Indeed. I gotta Flip for XMas. My wife got it for me to have something to open even though I already ordered my present (new bike) a few weeks ago. Hopefully the helmet mount is the thing, cuz otherwise this thing is kinda cool.. simple and easy.
