I am 230-240 6'2" and ride a CADD9 with 23mm tires and have no problems. Go for it.

iamsomeguy 02-05-10 10:41 AM

cool , thanks !
i figured as much since thor hushovd ride em but hes only at 190 , if i can loose whats left of my gut i think i could get down to around 190 ish

youcoming 02-05-10 10:46 AM

Thor rides a Cervelo, but I ride a Madone. Last year I peaked at 235 and had no issues. You should not have an isue.

txvintage 02-05-10 10:48 AM

No problems what so ever with riding carbon at 220. The Look is a beautiful frame, enjoy!

This thread has inspired me to get a commitment from my wife that I can spend $3500 on a bike if I hit 220 lbs. Currently 285.

I wouldn't spend $3500 on a bike no matter how much I weighed!:D..that's just me though, I do fine on my $1000 rigs.:p

You need to get your spending priorities straightened out!

Brando_T. 02-05-10 02:35 PM

think of that number as an upper limit.

AndrewP 02-05-10 04:26 PM

Any bike will take 220, but you need spokes up to tension and even tension. Preferably more than 24 spokes.

Wow I mention a grand for a bike and Jen still cringes. Trek dealer told me a few weeks ago that trek carbon bikes have no weight limit. I doubt you would have a problem with a Look

Maybe!:D I did have an opportunity to go with a 3k bike but knowing what I know, I didn't need it. So I bought Gina's bike for her, 5.2 full carbon Ultegra 10 speed priced at $2800 but I got it on sale for $2200. I bought myself a pump!:p

You are too funny! They need a Mr. thrift Smilie just for you. My wheels cost more than Gina's bike!

If I were to buy the same model wheels for myself, would I ride like you?:p

Wow! I would say marry me, but I suppose that would be a little bit gay..:twitchy: not that there's anything wrong with that.

That is a good deal on a 5.2!

Oh, forgot , a Pilot 5.2 Womens Specific Design (WSD) so you'd have to meet the "W" to marry me cause it aint legal in Cali!:p. Not as much as Homey's wheels but either way, I'd bet $20 on Gina!:roflmao2:

Funny these threads about clydes and carbon frames.... they're like a box a chocolates, you never can really tell where they are going to end up.

IMO, Look bikes are cool looking. Me, I'd choose a bike more on color over material.:D

I know and have met too many riders to think price or material makes the rider!:D

You'd never buy them so it's a mute question. :p

I ride with some guys like that on occasion. No big deal, if it makes 'em feel good, great! I just keep pedaling. If I decide on getting some Zipps or some other fancy bit, I will, and I'll just accept the poser label that sometimes comes with 'em. Kind of a reverse on the who cares about the bike thing.:D

Bling is cool if you can get it, but after many hours of sophisticated testing (I observe them hanging on my bike rack every night) my conclusion is that none of my bikes are any faster than any of the others regardless of brand, type, price, components or material.:)

I might win them in a raffle someday!:D...I'd put them on Gina's bike!;)

BTW, what tires do you ride, and price if I may?

After a point, my thoughts are, it works or it doesn't!:D...I know a guy with $9000 Time and $300 bibs with a radiator built into the chest. Nice to Ooh and Ahh over the bike, but we have to be quick about it.:p

Looks are sweet bikes so go for it to the OP! I know I would be excited!:thumb:

Of course you may ask. I ride Conti GP4000's ($40+/-) and Michelin Pro Race tires (as low as $35). It just depends on what is on sale and/or what I get from my sponsors. Last year I was given a bunch of Bontranger Race Lites. They were ok. I don't think I've actually bought a tire since last year some time.

Cool, I put GP4000's on Gina's bike and Serface Seca tires on mine. $22 at REI, another budget buy!:D
