    Gentlemen, meet slipstream.

or as my wife calls her, "the wh0re" something about paying to spend time with her. Sorry about the bad pictures, our camera is toast. I'll try to take some better pictures tonight.

I took her out for her first ride today and quickly found out how much differant a road bike handles from a mtn. bike. It is nice to pace traffic without breathing to hard though. Looking forward to many miles together.
I can bike to work faster then my neighbour/coworker can drive. So much for cars being Superior.

Very nice ride, that thing is sweet.

I haven't looked back after moving from my mountain bike to my Surly. Its not even a proper road bike and I can't stand riding my mtb anymore. I put about 4,500 miles on my cross check in 2009, and I just can't imagine riding my mountain bike that much.

I have straightened it out so many times, but it just keeps getting messy again... something about piles of biking magazines in boxes, old clothes for the baby the wife won't get ride of, etc. Actually I let it get messy so I have an excuse to get out to the shed to spend time with my bikes.

Norco is the brand, actually. They might not have made it down to your neck of the woods yet. Canadian company that just recently started making a bigger presence for themselves here in the PNW. I haven't checked out their road/tri bikes, but a lot of locals roll Norco offroaders up here.

Wait til you get some clipless pedals on it. You'll be leading traffic instead of pacing it.

Oh thanks, that would explain it!...Now that you mention it, I met some dude on the trail that had a sweet CF bike. He mentioned that it was a Canadian company, beautiful bike. I can't recall the name though, could have been the same co.

Funny, we were talking, I hadn't heard of the comapny that made his bike and he had never heard of, or seen a Lemond!..He thought it was some exotic bike!

hmmm. naming bikes..?... not sure about that. I might call mine very different things depending how the ride is going... wouldn't want to limit myself. On the trainer... I just call it a word that can be used to describe a female dog, but likely cannot be posted here.

Nice ride, however you need to study up on the rules of BF bike photo posting.
    • in front of a white garage door
    • shift the subject into it's most macho gear (53 x 11 for manly men)
    • drive side to the camera
    • pedals horizontal (or crankset logos properly oriented)
    • valve stems at the same clock position

I think there are even more, it's about impossible to get it perfect...

Norco sponsors a Domestic Pro squad here in the states. I barely missed getting a team bike on the Bay a few months ago and I'm still stinging from the defeat, lol.

I'm loving the new bike threads. It helps remind me Spring is almost here.

It's a Norco CM2, Norco's entry level road race/triathlon bike. It's and aluminum frame and weighs in just over 22 lbs, which I don't know is good or bad, as it's my first road bike.

It has a 50/36 chain ring with a 12-24 8 speed cog, and uses the Shimano Sora group, which I'll upgrade when the funds become available.

I picked it up for 700 canadian, down from 1000 cdn which was in my price range.

I can't wait. I have massive feet, so the LBS is having to order them in special for me. Soon though, soon.

    • in front of a white garage door
It will be done when I find painting funner than riding.
    • shift the subject into it's most macho gear (53 x 11 for manly men)
I'm new to this road thing so for now I'll push girly man 50 X 12 gears. Give me a year, and I'll see what I can do.
    • drive side to the camera
      Got that, just blurry.
    • pedals horizontal (or crankset logos properly oriented)
      Will do.
    • valve stems at the same clock position
      Will do.

As long as it has a good durable frame, it's a good bike! I have loads of friends that tell me to get the weigh of my bike down, yeah yeah blah blah blah! When I have problems saying their wheel, them maybe I''ll listen!

    Good idea, upgrade when needed!

Alert Bay, huh? My Mom lives in Duncan and the furthest north I've been on the Island is probably Comox. What's the riding like up there? Good roads? Any bike trails at all? If nothing else I'm sure the scenery is spectacular.

The roads are great, if you don't mind hill training, there's a couple of mountain passes and 250k between me and Comox, the shoulders are all graveled up at the moment but I've been told they clean them all off by April. There's not many road bikers up here, but I've gotten a group of 4 of us together so far to do the longest realistic one day ride around here which works out to around 100k round trip.

We have a good trail system on my island, and I'm going to start going on some trail rides with the local groups when the light starts getting better, the leave at 6 pm when the lbs closes, and I don't have a proper lighting system yet.

Perhaps OP has been a motorcyclist too? Giving names to things we ride is sort of a bad habit that we can never give up, though I'm a little surprised it's not a woman's name. My last motorcycle was Connie, current Bicycle (Panasonic PT-4500) is Sophia.

Well, my wife did name it "the *****"... does that count? I pay good money to ride her all over town.
