Fork selection for big boy
Just picked up a Specialized Ground Control. Looks lke it needs a new front shock. Currently, it has a Rock Shox Indy. Any suggestions without breaking the bank? Or is there a way to re-build it? I'm 235 lbs. and live in Idaho. Quite a bit of trail and off-trail stuff. Nothing extreme...yet. This my first FS and can't wait to get it out. Thanks for the info.

You may want to get a regular fork without shocks in it. The shocks tend to sag and prevent you from gaining speed. Especially if you are 200+ pounds. I was looking for a bike with front shocks too, but I was talked out of it because shocks tend to slow one down while riding and they can wear down and break easier with a heavier person riding the bike.
I'm looking into the Kona Smoke and the Trek 7000 without the front shocks for myself.

When I was around 235 I did not notice any suspension lag in the performance. At 235# you need no special amenities. Check your LBS for forks that have been taken off of similar bikes. There's usually something lying around.
