I have a question on the fit of jerseys. I have about 3 different jerseys and two of them fit fine for my stocky build (5'8" and currently 212) and one is trimmer. They are all the same size (XL). Are there jerseys cut trimmer or looser and is there a way to tell what the cut is? I don't see anything on the tags of my jerseys. Thanks for suggestions.

"Race cut" is more form-fitting than "club cut."

If you buy online, look at the reviews. The reviews usually tell you if they fit true to size or are smaller than usual. I just bought a jersey from Performance Bike and was worried about it being too small so I ordered a size up. I ended up with a Jersey that is larger than I would have liked. I noticed that Primal jerseys tend to run small. If you are unsure, ask here. Lots of help here.

Ahh, thanks. Race cut vs. Club cut. I bet I ended up with one race cut jersey!

Not only that--there's also the euro fit versus the typical US fit. The euro fit (for me, at least) tends to be two sizes smaller than the US fit.

Sizing varies from one company to another. You should always check a size chart to see what one company considers XL. Louis Garneau once considered a 36" waist as XL. I have an XXXL LG jersey that is tight and short, but an XL Pearl Izumi that is loose and long.

I find that their stated measurements are pretty accurate. Just be sure to read the descriptions of their jerseys and cuts! Their "set-in cut" has "been modified for more aggressive riding styles". It's their equivalent of a "race cut". All jersey's are designed to be snug. For a loose fit, order up a size.

With bike jersey always check the size chart if you can find one or try it on if in person. I don't really understand why the American companies at least don't go buy standard t-shirt size but I often find XL and XXL bike jerseys that would only fit a man that wore a M or L t-shirt. If you buy European the problem is even worse as they seem to run even smaller. I have found if you are just wanting something plain most of the catalog/online stores jersey fit close to t-shirt size.
