    Long Cranks testing

    Howdy

Here's a nice little article about the effectiveness of long cranks for tall riders...

Goes some way to proving what I've been finding on my bike.

I've had the go ahead from a university here in New Zealand to do a power output test of long legged riders with varying length cranks. I have to find 8 riders over 6'5" now - which is not exactly easy... Be interesting if I can find them though. And make for a good photo if we can get all of us out for a ride

    Adrian.

I have a 36" inseam at 6'3". I have considered longer cranks. I ride off road70% and am concerned about dragging around corners and technical sections. Any words of knowledge there?
I think its disgusting and terrible how people treat Lance Armstrong, especially after winning 7 Tour de France Titles while on drugs!

I can't even find my bike when I'm on drugs. -Willie N.

I've the same inseam as you - (but I'm taller) so you'd definately be a candidate. I run 210mm cranks.

My bike's built with a higher bottom bracket to remove any clearance problems.

I know there are plenty of people putting custom length cranks on non custom bikes though - and just having to be a bit more mindful of the clearance when cornering or on technical sections.

The extra leverage it gives you is amazing though and IMHO it would more than makes up for the clearance problems.

    Cheers

    Adrian.
