Wow...outta shape!

Just spent 12 minutes on the old wind trainer hooked up to my MTB (with slick). Feels good, but man am I outta shape! If I can keep it up I am going to treat myself to a magnetic trainer to keep the noise down a bit. Trying to get a headstart on the spring season coming up!

I finished the session by some free weight bicep curls We all know muscle burns fat too

Hope I can do it again tomorrow. Now I better get showered and cook my salmon with salad for lunch

This is something I've always wondered. Mag trainers work as well with 26" wheels as they do with 700's? Or do you have a special trainer? Anyway, best of luck with it. Hoping I find the motivation to join you.

Not sure, I have a wind trainer... a cheap one at that! I had a cycleops fluid trainer, but sold it when I sold my road bike, wish I would have kept it, THAT was a nice trainer, very smooth and much more road like than this wind trainer.

Almost thinking an exercise bike would be better, I think I would be more likely to use it but a trainer takes up a lot less space when not in use. Of course the exercise bike could be used by anyone in the house...

I even had an almost healthy lunch, Salmon glazed with a little brown sugar and Jack Daniels (called for bourbon, I have Jack...) and a nice Romaine leaf salad with honey mustard dressing, croutons and just a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella (for flavor). Of course then I had to have a slice of fresh made cake with coconut on it but I will make up for that by eating less on break at work!

Nice way to get some early miles in for those of us in a winterland.

Mag trainers should work with 26" wheels just fine as long as you have a smooth center tread pattern on the tire. I really miss the rollers I used to have and I've been watching for some within reach of my budget.

Salmon: reminds me that I have some smoked salmon I need to get to at home.

Well I picked up an inexpensive exercise bike today at Sears. Definitely not a high end bike, but for the price not too bad. Put it together tonight after work and hopped on for about 5 minutes. Definitely more comfy than riding a bicycle stationary, I got an upright exercise bike. I did pay for a 2 year warranty, figured $50 for two years (and it includes once a year preventative service I guess), is worth it. I still live at home and I really wanted something my mother could use as well, or anyone for that matter. I now wish I would have done this in november, but better late than never.

I looked at a spinning bike while I was at Sears, Was oh so tempting because it really was a realistic feel to riding it, but I had to pass, a bit more than I wanted to spend. I actually can't wait to get back on the exercise bike...If I could drop 5-10lbs before cycling season got here, (mid april normally) that would be awesome! I can do it!

I got a trainer for Xmas and have been using every day unless I am traveling. It is a fluid one and works well. I prefer this to a exercise bike since I can use any of my more modern bikes (130mm rear axle) on it and can fine tune the bike mechanicals on the trainer. Also keeping my butt in shape for the road bike saddle and maintain a proper riding position. I did have a aerodyne for many years but it was too noisy to watch TV and workout.

My trainer is adjustable to use with bikes wheel sizes ranging from 24" to 27".
