Gruesome Spring Ride with pics (don't read while eating)
Beautiful day for a ride
Turning on to the 'busy' road on my usual 10-mile there-and-back again. We had a storm the day before, straight-line winds knocked out power and left debris everywhere.
Taking a look over at the lake over there yonder
I love the rural ride, I was passed by cars only 2x on my ride.
Spring brings hope, but also uncovers winter's doings
Part of rural riding is being out-in-the-world usually you'll encounter small road kill, this one was a bit more gruesome
Barns and Power lines
Fields of corn will grow tall here, in the fall you nearly feel boxed right before harvest.
Lovely views.

Lost Again
The bad thing about bicycling is roadkill. You just cannot pedal fast enough to get away from the smell. I just stop breathing as long as I can and hope I'm past it all before I gasp.

we have dead seals on our beach hikes, one year I brought home a skull and buried it. a few months later I dug it up but the skull was still intact. I had to crack it and clean it out. I never did reassemble it completely. tequila and beer was required for the cleaning. my best friend help with encouragement and ice

Did a ride 3 years ago in Northern Montana. The temp each day was over 105 degrees. Pretty much every so many yards you ran into road kill... now that that small stuff like rabbits, skunks etc but deer, antelope and one day a horse!!!! The blood trails would be 20 - 30 ft long! [some big, scary fast moving trucks and trailers up in Montana I tell ya].
Hot bloated road kill. Sweet sickly smells. Ahhh good memories of Montana ! [not!]

I don't know how long it had been there, but the stench was horrendous.

I just hate when the road kill is fresh and I am avoiding the guts.

I miss Michigan, but not enough to move back. I used to live in Niles.
Now I'm in southern Indiana. Yes, we have hills!
