Starting to move down on the scale again, hit a new low yesterday and also today. Monday put me at 267.9 and I'm happy for that, today I was 267.2, so I'm hoping it's a trend or a new step off the current plateau.

Week 4 - 284.4 lbs
Week 5 - 282.5 lbs
Week 6 - 280.2 lbs
Week 7 - 281.3 lbs
Week 8 - 282.0 lbs
Week 9 - 280.0 lbs
Week 10 - 278 lbs
Week 11 - 279.5 lbs
Week 12 - 274.3 lbs
Week 13 - 272.7 lbs
Week 14 - 271.8 lbs
Week 15 - 272.5 lbs
Week 16 - 267.9 lbs

Add me to the list! I've decided it's about time I start putting numbers down where someone other than me can see them. For the past month I have set goals and plans and have done a pretty miserable job of sticking with them. Hopefully, posting here will help hold me accountable to meeting my goals.

I've lost 9 pounds from March 21 to April 18, and after my round of golf this afternoon, I feel fairly confident that tomorrow morning I will show a loss of at least 10 pounds over 1 month. While I'm certainly happy about that, I know that at my size I could be doing a lot better.

My goals this week are to stay within my calorie goals every single day, to burn a minimum of 300 calories from exercise every day and a minimum of 3500 for the week (which shouldn't be hard at all with golf today), and to work harder on finding a bike.

3/21/10 - 404.2 lbs
3/28/10 - 402.8 lbs
4/10/10 - 397.8 lbs
4/18/10 - 395.2 lbs

You're heading in the right direction and at a healthy rate. It won't happen overnight, and no reason to expect it will. 10-lbs is a worthy achievement. Keep up the good work

I dropped out for a week or two; had friends visiting and other obligations, but I'm back in it and happy to say still making progress. I lost some records so I'll try to fill in with estimates, but my current weight I know to be accurate. Also, I took about 4-5 days off of the diet while friends were visiting, and fortunately this did not set me back too much; pretty much just amounted to a delay.

From my last post:
April 5, 2010 275.4
April 12, 2010 ????

I'm pretty sure I dropped a few by April 12, but I lost those numbers, so I'll say 272. April 19 I was disappointed to see that I had lost less than half a pound, but a subsequent weigh-in on Tuesday April 20 happily showed progress. Current weight as of Tuesday morning was 267.1, but since it wasn't an official weigh-in day, I'll list the Monday weight. Hopefully I'll show big losses next Monday.

March 01, 2010 285.0
March 08, 2010 280.6
March 15, 2010 277.4
March 22, 2010 274.8
March 29, 2010 273.2
April 5, 2010 275.4
April 12, 2010 272.0
April 19, 2010 271.6
April 25, 2010 265

I would like to join in again this year! Current weight 244. I started out at 356 last year. During the winter I pretty much stopped riding and focused on weight lifting. I added a good bit of muscle, but did not lose much weight. I commuted to work twice last week!

Bamacrazy, sounds like you're doing great! Are you doing a particular diet or just increasing exercise?

In 2004 I did HMR (which I highly recommend) and it was the first successful diet of my life, and for the first time I was in decent enough shape to do whatever I wanted. The main thing I learned is that my previous attempts at weight loss had failed because of one of two reasons: I had a diet plan in place but no exercise plan, or I was exercising more but had no diet plan in place.

My biggest key is limiting sugars, simple carbs, empty calories, portions, and beer! Excercise is mandatory to long term weight loss as is sufficent water consumption. I had help from my doctor too. I had a lap band done on July 14th. Lap bands are tricky in that you are not automatically going to lose weight. You would be amazed at the number of people who lose little or no weight with the procedure. My sister had one done and went several months during which she actually gained weight. thankfully, she has started excerising regularly and is doing much better!
