economically priced 700c cross wheels?
 

Anyone have any suggestions for some well priced 700c cross wheels? They may see a little dirt, but mostly will be used for commuting. Weight is not a big factor. Price and number of spoke (more not less) is. Looking to spend under $200 retail for a set.

I just bought a set of the f1s for regular roading, but I am also considering a set of the M1's for my Touring bike. They would also make better cross wheels than the f1's. I would e-mail them and ask about weight stress specs, and see if they are good for 250 or so lbs.

I had really good luck with a set of mountain bike wheels I got from them.

I ordered some Mavic A319s, 32 spoke, 105 hubs, and double butted spokes. Came to just over $200.

The Mavic CXP-22s looked awfully tempting, and would come in well under $200, but I wanted the double eyelets of the A319s.

For me, fuzionwheels was the only wheel I found that was hand built and under 200 dollars. Those other wheels are all good and decent but they will probably have to be trued right out of the box.

Bicycle Wheel Warehouse and Neuvation both hand-build their wheels. I have wheels from both companies and neither has needed truing yet. In fact, the $130 MTB wheelset I bought from BWW looked better on the truing stand than the far more expensive Mavic Crossride wheels on my commuter bike...

Not sure exactly what they have on offer right now, but I would recommend wheels from Handspun. Also handmade, tensioned and trued, just not custom. I have a 36h Deore/Velocity Dyad rear wheel on my commuter that's been serving me very well. Got the wheel for under $125. Might be worth looking at what they're offering these days. I think they're QBP, so look at any of the major online stores (aebike, etc.) for purchsae options. Additionally, as QBP, you can have any LBS order one for you, too, I think...
