Cindy and I just got back from a 5+ mile ride on the Sippo Valley trail. Her 4th time on the bike, did bout 6 MPH going west, and cranked it up to bout 12MPH going back east. Nice little ride, and I think she had fun too. We stopped at Ernie's for ice cream on the way home - time to mow til dark...

It's supposed to thunderstorm tonight, but it's up to Cindy I'm trying to make everything fit in the garage today, and since it's "Cinco de Mayo", we're meeting friends at a local Mexican place tonight...

I went for a ride by myself today, since I don't have a speedometer or a mile tracker I'm not really sure how long I went for but I know it was for 30 minutes straight. For a small fat girl that isn't too bad for the 5th time riding with no prior excercise. Am I winded yep, are my legs like spaghetti, yep, but am I doing ok, yep. So all is good.

Looking forward to not writing it, Neil!
You know me, one-liners are my thing...I'll leave the ride reporting to Peter and I'll fill in anything of note he might have missed...like nekkid women running down the side of the towpath cheering us on to victory over the chipmunks.

Now just don't be disappointed if Cindy starts to be stronger and faster than you and wants a hot racing bike. You will no one to blame but yourself for starting this!
Honestly a really pretty bike which to us gals is the most important!!!

Ride Report!
Cindy and I were to meet Chipcom and Mrs. Chipcom at the Center St crossing of the Towpath in Canel Fulton tonight at 5:30PM. Normally, I am the kind of guy to be 20-30 minutes early, but sadly tonight I made us like 10 minutes LATE! - I wonder if they were thinking we were going to no-show (I really hate to be late, sorry!)
Nice evening, bout 68 degrees or so, after hellos, got on our bikes and headed south. Ladies in front (Cindy never hit Mrs. Chipcom or anything) and Chipcom and I followed. Went bout four miles, stopped to turn around, did one short break bout halfway back, bout 8 miles total.
Riding time was bout 90 minutes and Cindy did great!
Of course Chipcom and Mrs Chipcom are great people, and we hope to ride with them more in the future! Was a fun ride, saw some geese on the path, and was a veery pretty area too!
Of course, Peter went off the path twice, and for some weird reason, when we stopped to turn around, here I was all stopped, left foot down, watching Cindy come to a stop in front of us, and I magically fell over to the right, off the edge, right down into a patch of brambles! OUCH!!!
Took Chipcom and 2-3 other passers-by to un-tangle me enough from all the thorns and yank me out of the hole. Picture me sitting on my butt, 3' down below the path with my feet in front of me bout 2' above my butt, then wrap me up in brambles - sadly, no one thought to take a photo before getting me out
We figure 20-30 scratches and punctures total, and YES, my DR says I need a "Tetanus shot" - YAY...bleh
Still - it was fun, am glad we went, want to do it again (but minus the brambles)...
Photos tomorrow!

Peter and Cindy are good people...it was a pleasure riding with both of them.
Well at least it was until Peter ticked me off and I kicked him off the side of the path, down the bank and into the thorn bushes. I was aiming to kick him clear into the river.
On the bright side, Peter learned the value of carrying a small rag or some wet wipes in your kit. Not only good for cleaning up after fixing flats or dropped chains, but also good for blood (he also learned that when you get your blood on a rag, it becomes your rag. ). It's also why it's good to carry a bottle of water in addition to any bottles of gatorade, beer or Jack Daniels you are carrying. Pretty sure Peter would have enjoyed a bit of Jack...for medicinal purposes only, of course.
Both Peter and Cindy have their marching orders. Keep putting in as many miles as they are comfortable with, concentrating on spinning a nice high cadence with a smooth stroke. Base miles, base miles, base miles...and take a day off now and then to do other things...like yard work, long walks, etc. Try to increase your weekly mileage by about 10% each week until you are doing 20 mile rides with relative ease. Intensity and longer distances can come later...right now job one is building a good foundation of form and base miles.
Look forward to riding with you guys again soon...and Cheri says the same.

One more thing for Neil (Historian), and couple of other BFers who will remain nameless.
Dude, why is it that the first time anyone meets me they always fall off their darned bike or have their toes explode?

Man falls off bike, wasn't wearing helmet, lived.
ok, ok, I'm going to bed now.

Cindy and Mrs Chipcom
Chipcom discussing seat height and Cindy's short legs
No one can believe the seat height - I think a child's bike was mentioned here
My new leg wounds - can't see them all, but you get the idea
The right arm - no one was willing to help me take the photo (think they didn't want anymore blood on them) - so it's a bit blurry

I still have a scar from September 2008, when I went down on the chain ring. This photo is when it was no more than a week old. It's faded somewhat since.
