Size 17 shoe is requiring a nice long chain stay
So I used to have a 2xl frame Giant hardtail mtb, but after that getting stolen from inside the garage and us moving to Seattle in the next 3 days, I have decided that I want a cyclocross road bike for the versatility of off road capability as well as routine commuting.
The 2xl Giant frame was perfect for my 6'10" frame, HOWEVER the chainstay length became a problem sometimes due to my size 17 foot. The Giant frame had a 424 mm chainstay and so far all the cross bikes I have found is about 410-430mm. This has scared me.
I unfortunately dont have thousands upon thousands of dollars to blow on a solid, perfect, top of the line custom rig.... SO, I have been looking at BD's Motobecan Fantom Cross CX. Im sure its not the greatest bike with the strongest and most reliable everything, but I know that it will at least be a solid starter bike that I can slowly upgrade as things break down. The price and quality overall seem to be reasonable, but im afraid of the 430mm chainstay being a big issue.
So, I was wondering if anyone knows of any solid bikes that offer larger frames with long chainstays that arent wicked expensive.
Thanks for the help guys.

Personally, if longer chainstays are your goal I would look into touring bikes. Surly Long Haul Trucker, Jamis Aurora, Trek 520, and even BikesDirect Windsor Tourist come to mind. Touring bikes are designed to have long chainstays.
