Looking for a trainer
I know it is the beginning of summer, but I am in need of a good indoor trainer. I am looking for something that is fairly quiet and easy to get the bike in and out of. Anything is an option, rollers or whatever. My outdoor riding time has been cut down considerably with the triplets being 12 week sold and free time being a thing of the past. I figure with the trainers I can still get in some riding, even move them outside to the deck or porch if needed.
Any help is greatly appreciated and quality is more important than price.

In general, fluid trainers are considered better than magnetic trainers and magnetic trainers are considered better than wind trainers. Of fluid trainers, the Kurt Kinetic Road Machine is often considered the best. It has a relatively realistic resistance and is relatively quiet. I find mine to be quite boring.
Good rollers (e.g. Kreitler) tend to be more expensive than trainers. They're a bit more difficult to use, due to the balance required. Some people think that the concentration required to stay upright makes rollers less boring than a trainer.

Beginning of summer is a pretty good time to find trainers and rollers on Craig's List. Like many types of exercise equipment, it is purchased with the best of intents and is later sold off in near new condition for pennies on the dollar.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Kurtz Kinetic Road Machine would be my recommendation.

I'd recommend actually getting a rear wheel specific for trainer use. It doesn't need to be aero, it just needs a durable skewer and I'd also highly recommend a trainer-specific tire. Trainer use it pretty hard on tires and I wouldn't recommend shredding your Pro3s or your 4000s. They also seem to dissipate heat better than regular tires.
This photo shows part of my trainer, my cheap $80 wheel, and my Continental trainer tire (with the black line down the center showing the wear that the tire has undergone).

I like rollers. They do wonders for one's ability to ride in a straight line. Moreover, when you are riding rollers, you are actually riding. You don't need to pay big money for them either. I bought my Travel Trac rollers from Performance for under USD 200.00 delivered. I have ridden many hundreds of miles on them so far with no troubles at all.
