Formal Introduction

Hey I've been lurking here and posting a little bit here and there. However Ive come to really enjoy this forum with all of the wonderful success stories, so I thought I'd share mine.
I'm a 21 year old new Clyde weighing in at about 230lbs. I am what is considered a rehabilitating Football linemen. After a very sucessful highschool career at right guard (sucessful meaning I weighed more than any of my opposition) I comitted to a small "football school down south, had an extrodinarily unsucessful Freshman attempt, re-evaluated things and left.
on Januaryy 11th 2007 I weighed 286 punds at 5'10.
This year I set myself the goal of doing Philadelphia's city to the Shore ride on july 12th, 68 miles.
I have discovered a great passion in road cycling and have recently hit my lowest weight since the age of 13 231lbs.

Well I guess thats it.
Thanks for all the inspiration on here.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Welcome to the club! And it's great that you found a passion in cycling ... the more things there are that "make time stand still" for you the more fun life seems to be.

I like your trick of redefining success. I think I'll have to borrow that.

Actually we should plan something like that in the future.
I only have one friend I can currently ride with and he's much more into mountain biking.

PM me when you are ready. Keep in mind I'm old enough to be your dad, and weigh a lot more than you.

Hello all,
I am getting back into ridding again for like the 5th time in 15 years. I think I can do it this time, better time schedule and resources this time. I am resurrecting a 93 Giant Perigee road bike and a 94 Specialized Rockhopper to get started again. I began at a weight of approx. 317.5 on May 9th. I am still repairing the bikes, dry rotted tires an lube. I am at 287.6 today from walking jogging intervals on a track.

I am sure lusting for the new model road bikes they look great, but I will stick to these until I see that i am going to stick with it this time. BTW, I am currently 46 years old.

I made up my mind to lose this weight and attended a weight loss surgery seminar. I learned a lot, such as that a perment restriction is required to loose the weight, but I did not want to alter my body. So i decided that I would place the restriction on intake and loose the weight.
