Score one for the herd!

So I just wanted to share this:

That's the medal I got for winning my age group and taking 8th place overall in my first bike race this past weekend.

The funny thing is, I had every intention of racing on my Trek DF, but I wrecked my chain at the last minute and couldn't replace it in time. So off I went to the race with my Sun EZ-3 USX HD trike. I honestly didn't expect to be very competitive, because the trike is extremely heavy, but fortunately I was able to spend a little time making adjustments and got a little extra speed out of it.

Throughout the race, I got a lot of comments from the volunteers and other riders. After I crossed the finish line, the race director asked me if I got any extra power. I asked him how much his bike weighed and when he realized that my trike weighed 3.5 x that, I reminded him how I had to climb all the same hills. Oh! - And by the way, I weigh twice as much as you, too!

Sorry for bragging, just not used to being this proud.

I'm hoping to have one soon. My brother's girlfriend took the photos, but she has them on her camera yet since she forgot her memory card. It's taking a painfully long time because she also lost the cable to connect the camera to her computer.

Let me get this straight. You got up off the couch, started walking and riding, lost the weight of nearly an entire person (Taylor Swift, perhaps), and you say you are not used to being proud?!? Heck, even without the medal you should be climbing the Pagoda and shouting your pride from the top of Mount Penn (or Neversink, if you prefer.) You are a freakin' rock star, dude. Get used to being proud. Congratulations!

X2 dude! I mean, I got some lbs to lose (40 or so) and it sometimes takes me some motivation to get up and go...although if Friday ends up being nice, I will be chompin at the bit to go for a ride (I dont ride in rain)...

Congrats and keep up the awesome work! You beat guys half your weight on sub-20lb roadies...freaking awesome
