At present I'm riding the Conti GP4000's 700x23. I've got about 500 miles on them. Previously I had the Michelin Pro 3's and I really liked the way they felt and rolled, but I had three flats on the rear within a month and also ended up with more than a dozen nicks and cuts that concerned me. It got to the point where I just didn't trust them, so I'm trying the Conti's.

As far as cost, I got my Conti's for about $37US each at ProBikeKit...

If you're interested in new tires, Competitive Cyclist is running a 1 day "Facebook" sale ( 25% off all tires, tubes, sealants, glue, etc. Use promo code FB8 at checkout). I mentioned it in this thread:

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...titive-Cyclist...

BTW, I have no affiliation with the company other than being a fan of their service...

Have either of you ridden Continental Ultra Gatorskins, and/or Schwalbe Marathon plus tires? How do the Armadillo's compare in terms of rolling resistance?

Since I bought a new bike this year, I'm running the GP4000's that came with it until they die. I have had good luck with Vittoria Rubino III's on my last bike. Many thousands of miles on them.

Just swapped to Conti GP4000's after running Forte DC Pro's for the past 2 yrs. Hadn't truly logged mileage prior to mid-last season, so I'm not sure how many miles I got out of the Forte's, but I only got 1 flat when riding them (sliver of glass).

I have found Bontrager Race Lite Hard Case 700 23 @40.00 (85789) just started using them after tire failures (bubbles)
For the Globe I am going to try Conti Touring Plus 700 X 38's

Continental Grand Prix Four Season

I just switched from Continental Ultra Race 700x23 to Continental Grand Prix Four Season 700x25 on my carbon road bike. The Ultra Race's had lost several patches of tread, about 1/16", after about 1,500 miles. The Grand Prix's weigh the same but seem much tougher. The Ultra Race's have a more supple feel. I went to the larger size for riding short stints on gravel. I only have a few hundred miles on the Grand Prix's but they look like they will last much longer. They were not cheap. I paid about $45 each on sale.

Those Michelin Pro3 Race tires are a dream to ride. Everyone should try them for a season. Mine lasted about 3 months and got a bunch of flats but I loved every second on them. Since then I'm using Continental 4 seasons. 2 flats already but they seem to be wearing much better. Ride is OK.

I've used boots on sidewalls in an emergency and NO, don't do it! They start to squeeze out the side if you put even the least bit too much psi. Talk about a chance at beaking your face! A new tire will be much less than the medical bills.

Continental Gatorskin Ultra 700x32. I commute daily, but they are surprisingly zippy, quiet and comfortable on long rides too. I'm hoping they'll last a good 4000+ miles like I've heard from other users.
