New to all of this
Hello everyone.....
A little about me Several years ago i hit a top weight of almost 700 pounds
well over the years and due to a little sickness from a mosquito.... i lost close to 100 pounds.
My legs finally started to give out on me about a year ago....so with alot of hard work and dieting im not down to a little over 400 pounds...420 to be exact as of a Drs. visit just a couple weeks ago...
well with my new added mobility id love to really kick the weight loss into gear and start bikeing...... but ive never learned how to ride a normal bicycle so im wanting to start with a recumbent of some sort......been looking at the pav3.....but also have seen the shortcomeings of such bike with the limited gearing and whatnot.......would would be the best trike for a new person into this for someone of my weight? and something i could grow into after some time.....
my uncle is also an advid rucumbent bike rider so i have him to ride with as well....
thanks for any help of sugestions
Aaron

Can't help I'm afraid, I know next to nothing about recumbents. If I were you I'd re-post this in the recumbent forum. That will give you the benefit of the expertise both of the larger riders (here) and the recumbent enthusiasts (there).
And congratulations on losing so much weight. Keep at it.

Welcome Aaron
Congrats on your weight loss so far. Biking is a great way to kick start it again. There are a few on here who ride recumbents bike so I'm sure they will be around shortly to give you some great advice. It's good to check out the recumbent forum too. There are many clydes on here who started at very high weights and now have reached their goals or close to it. You will find amazing support on here. Check out the before and after thread. That is great for keeping you motivated.
Looking forward to hearing more of your progress. Enjoy the forum.

First off congratulations on the weight loss and decision to start riding.
However, what do you mean by "not knowing how to ride a normal bike"? Just any bike you sit on a saddle in a semi-upright position? Then do you know how to ride a recumbent? I'm just looking for a little clarification so I, or other posters can better assist you.

I haven't used the Worksman PAV, but I think it would probably work fine in basically flat areas. I've got a Worksman cargo trike, and I find it is wide enough that you basically "take the lane" with it whether you want to or not, so it helps to be a little more selective on where you ride relative to traffic. With either trike, you could have some substantial challenges if you live where it is REALLY hilly.
You mention riding with your uncle. If he's been riding quite a while and/or is more fit, you'd expect a substantial speed difference that can be awkward to deal with.
I've managed to lose about 60 lbs over the last few years mainly by bicycling. One thing I've found, though, is that you can't just leisurely mosey around the neighborhood and accomplish much. But if you're fairly religious about getting out and riding, and put some effort into it when you do, it's a great thing.

hello thanks again everyone.....i never learned to ride a standard two wheel bike.....i lived in the country growing up and it was just never something that i learned to do...ive never riden anything really recumbant or otherwise......
ideing with my uncle i know i wont exactly be rideing right with him haha but we could still go together and whatnot.....
i do like the lightfoot cycles.....but leaning more towards the pav3 i think for a starter because of the smaller price......its something i could get sooner than one of the lightfoot bikes.
