Selle Anatomica

Does anyone know if this saddle manufacturer is still in business? The phone number they have listed on the website is not accepting incoming calls. They also are not answering emails. The order page on the website is still working and so is the auto responder when you place an order.

I know the owner passed away a while back. I hope they are still in business?

Selle Anatomica != Selle Italia.

I hadn't heard that he had died, rkimble. That's quite sad.

Tom passed away on the Devil Mountain Double, while climbing Mt. Hamilton. He had a heart attack. It was a bummer indeed. He was really a genuinely good guy. It's obvious that he left a huge hole in that company that I don't know if they can recover from. I know that the e-mail address and probably the phone number as well went to Tom so that's probably why it's not working anymore. I know Tom was actively looking for additional sales help to ease his burden prior to his passing but last I talked to him (a couple week prior to DMD) he hadn't found the right person. It doesn't bode well that they haven't updated the website. There could also be issues with ownership of the company now...

No, no, no...Selle Anatomica has nothing to do with Selle Italia, AFAIK.

Selle Anatomica is/was owned by MCM Selle Anotomica Inc. and the work on their saddles is done by Monarch McLaren Inc in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.

If anybody knows differently I'd love to hear it.

"!=" is used in programming for NOT EQUALS.

Joemetals wasn't saying they were the same he was saying they weren't the same.

I translated that, being a geek. The worst is when you actually say "bang-equals" out loud during a conversation. Well, actually, the worst is probably saying "slash-me" but this would be a close second.

Also, does anyone know how to find out of the saddles are still going to be available? The SA was on my short list of saddles to get.

Order it from the website or from one of the distributors listed on the site. They are well worth it.

My Italian really sucks, but if I am not mistaken, "Selle" is Italian for Saddle, so any Italian manufacturer of saddles is likely to have a name with "Selle" in it.

Sorry not to have more info specifically on Selle Anatomica though...

OK, thanks for the translation. Not being familiar with programming, the subtlety was lost on me...and I didn't see where anyone had suggested a connection between SA and Selle Italia.

I received my USPS ship notification Friday evening :-) I will post a review after my first ride. I am hoping it will be in the mail when I get home from work today.

Specially treated Leather Industrial packing is their primary business,
bike saddle a sideline.

http://www.monarch-mclaren.com/ They put their leather top on a Brooks Pro railset.

so I got to try the Idea Out , my Butt's veto, had me reselling it again, at cost.

FWIW Selle Italia, of Italy , now owns the Brooks Company , in the UK.

Could have something to do with all their current fashion colours..

Sorry about that. I've never found a good way to get "not equals" across on the Internet. Some people use =/=, but I don't like it.

Anyways, the post above mine indicated that Selle was the same as Selle Anatomica, and I wanted to make sure people knew that before it turned into a "of course Selle is still in business!" thread.

To be honest, I had never heard of this saddle manufacturer before and it looks quite interesting. I might consider getting one if it weren't for the leather.

Joe, what is your concern about leather? I'm just curious if it is a concern for the material or if it doesn't work with your bike style. Not looking to change minds....
