Well that's just wonderful....
Apparently, I've gone from "eating too much" to "exercising too much".
https://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/...es.asp?id=1542
..indicated by the following symptoms:
Choosing to exercise instead of going to work or enjoying social activities with friends or loved ones
Oh c'mon, who wouldn't skip work to go biking? And my friends and loved ones are welcome to socialize with me anytime. On a bike ride.
Refusing to take any rest or recovery days, even when injured
Rest? I can do that when I'm dead!
Continuing to exercise even when ill
Joe Friel sez it's totally good to ride with a head cold. So there.
Exercising to the point of exhaustion
Pretty much every mountain bike ride for me, ever.
Never exercising for fun
OK, a solid "not guilty" for this one.
Experiencing severe stress and emotional upset, including depression, if unable to exercise
Totally.
Obsession with calories eaten and calories burned
What to see years and years of fitday data on the subject?
Preoccupation with burning calories throughout the day, even when not exercising
You try riding 100+ miles a day for a couple days and see how much you care about how many calories you're eating and burning.
So yeah, I guess I'm a compulsive exerciser. I should counteract this by not going biking tonight and plunking my ass down on the couch!

I'd rather be an over exerciser than heavy, unhealthy and out of shape!

Haha, I'd rather go riding and/or any other form of exercise rather than go out to downs suds with friends and family. They think I'm sick!

If you read the article, it's actually about exercise related eating disorders: People who use exercise as an overcompensation mechanism for caloric intake, similar to the way that anorexics simply refuse to eat or bulemics purge after gorging themselves.
There's nothing wrong with exercising on a daily basis, counting calories to track your progress, keeping a food journal, etc. But look at what they're talking about in that list:
Choosing to exercise instead of going to work or enjoying social activities with friends or loved ones
OK, many of us have friends who are into cycling as well, so this would seem unusual. Riding probably is a social activity for many of us. But it doesn't say you have to sit and junk out on the sofa instead of doing something active. And skipping work? Yeah, we joke about it... but making a habit of skipping work to go ride is no different than a drunk skipping work to go hit the bars.
Refusing to take any rest or recovery days, even when injured
That's just stupid. If you're hurt or fatigued, your body needs rest to heal.
Continuing to exercise even when ill
Again, depending on the type of illness, this is just stupid. A sniffle, sure, go ride. But I know first hand the type of damage you can do by trying to push yourself when you're genuinely ill and should spend the time recovering.
Exercising to the point of exhaustion
Once in a while it's good to push yourself to the limit. Repeatedly, it's a quick way to physically ruin yourself.
Never exercising for fun
I don't think any of us have this problem.
Experiencing severe stress and emotional upset, including depression, if unable to exercise
There's a huge difference between being a little bummed out over missing a ride day, and either a) flying off the handle in a rage over it, or b) suffering actual depression because of it.
Obsession with calories eaten and calories burned
This one could be tricky. What qualifies as "obsessed"? I keep a daily food/fitness journal, but my detail level isn't too specific for many things. I've seen some people who weigh all their food; is that over the limit? I think it's tied in with the next one:
Preoccupation with burning calories throughout the day, even when not exercising
If it's interfering with your ability to do/enjoy other things in life, then it might be a problem.
