OFFICIAL Clyde Forum Ride - Come join us Sat Nov 6 to ride GMR (SoCal)

This is it. You've thought about doing a great scenic ride with some climbing. Here's your chance!

Saturday, November 6th 2010
8:00 AM meet (or earlier if you want more time), 8:15 rollout.
Ride: GMR (Glendora Mountain Rd) 42 miles out and back, about 5,000 ft of climbing
Meeting spot: Intersection of GMR & Boulder Springs Dr.

You've seen pictures of this ride before, now it's your turn. One of the great things about mountain rides, if you really reach your limit, just turn around and coast back down! However, what you will find is that you can probably go farther than you thought you could and it is lots of fun. Riders of all levels are welcome.

Who's in?

Confirmed Rider List

Glendora Mtn Road is the best place. There is parking on the street at bottom over a section of about 1/2 mile. We can designate an exact spot later depending if the riders mind a dirt lot or curbside parking.

nevermind, link didn't work pressed for time, I'll post later.

Maybe I can ride down from my house and do it. I have to check with the war committee first though.

Argh! Kids have overlapping soccer games in the AM, which means I'll have to do divide and conquer with the wife to get them both where they need to go.

No GMR for me this time but post again when you feel like herding sheep up the hill, I want to give it a shot.

I thought it was a Clyde ride? The Socal forum used to have big GMR rides. At one time I believe about 30 riders. Things have broken up over there, not too many riders gather for ride anymore.

Weather forecast is sunny, 70 degrees. Might be a bit chilly, but great climbing weather.

Hmmm,, maybe we should open it up to the SoCal forums? I'm sure lots of riders would liek to go, Leaky Ftn Boyz, Alex, OCRRick and the Rebel Riders (good group of al llevels). Might be able to get Tammy. Maybe her hubby Alan would drive support too (maybe depending on her marathon run). Would make it hard to get everybody on video but we'd have more than 2 riders!

Whatch think?....rain cancels though!

Sounds good. I'll post up there in a little bit.

The dirt parking you referred to, is that the equestrian park at the intersection of Boulder Springs Dr. & GMR?

Nope, that's on the rigth side of the road (east side). The dirt lot is about 1/8 of a mile up the road on the left side (just above Big Dalton which is opposited side of road/rigth side). Looks very small on the site maymyride in sattelite or hybrid mode. It's not that small though.

But if you post it on the socal forum, the riders will park mostly on Boulder Springs like past rides. It's a little cleaner and more riders means more people babying their bikes not wanting to get the tires and BMW's dirty!.

See the thread in the SoCal forum for updated list.

Weather looks great, all Clydes are welcome! I'll be on a black & white Fuji Roubaix, blue jersey with a dorky grin on my face not knowing what I've gotten myself into!

The people that have replied in the SoCal thread, I bet atleast 30 riders so far!...Seems all levels. I'll be far behind helping Gina out with support and making sure she gets through safely as well. As well as motivating the newbs up the hill!

What the heck do you call your photographer? If he isn't a Clyde, no one is.
