Will People Get It? (clyde 'joke')

Ok, i know this is gettin REALLY nitpickey, but i am trying to decide on a 'brand' for my all black un-badged carbon frame that I am building up. it will be 3k weave carbon with clear coat, or matte black... anyhow, no stickers on it at all. On the headtube, i am going to have my family crest (McIntyre). I am trying to decide on the big billboard brand for the downtube. The insides of the fork will be a long skinny appropriately shaped Scottish and Irish flags (one on each side) for our scotch-irish background.

Anyhow, i am going to go with 1 of the 3 for my 'brand'
1) McIntyre
2) McClydesdale
3) McLydesdale

If you would be willing to take a look at the attached word file, i have a few fonts that i was thinking about. Not to skew any opinions, but i am most inclined to the first font, the others i just added to see what else i had. I just don't want my hopeful support of fellow CLYDES to be too confusing, where i have to explain what it says to 100 people LOL

How about Bierlastwagen? (Beerwagon, in German)

I would leave the downtube blank, and just put your name in small script on the top tube just behind the head tube on each side, in dark grey script. A Ninja frame on it's own can be a very nice look.

I like McClydesdale. I like the fact it mimicks Cannondale, and I would use Cannondale's font to emphasize it...

Of the three I'd vote for McClydesdale. Second McIntyre. The third one is just to clever and is confusing. Thinking out loud, someone might confuse McClydesdale for being named after McDonalds The McIntyre would show a true custom design.

Of the fonts I like 456. I like the "beefiness" of it. I don't want a thin font.

That would be so classy! An instance where less is more.

Yes, i have also considered a 'ninja' bike. This is a carbon blank out of china... lots of them on roadbike review forum... here is one in matte finish from a different individual

Stealth is good

My decals came off a long time ago and I kind of like the no-name look.

If I were choosing one of your options, I'd go with #8. Whatever font you used on the first 3 looked like crap on my computer, so I probably don't have the font. if you have Algerian, try that one, it also looks cool.

If you get just your name in script, where do you go to do that? I'm tempted to gussy up my ride all of a sudden.

Here is a quick reply the sticker guy sent me. there are spelling issues, but he returned my email with a design within an hour. He does 'custom' bike stickers, and has been used over on the other forum a few times with good success. Just need lots of communication on spelling etc because apparently he does everything through an interpreter. He is going to invert the colors (my frame will be black) and change the spelling on the downtube. That's my family crest on the headtube

BTW, this is why i love the clydes forum. I ride a motobecane cross bike, and have never been flamed in here for it. And the thought of ordering a frame blank from a distributor in china hasn't derailed the thread into an additional flame war.

Maybe it's just because theres more of us to love. I guess if i did these stickers is have to hault any weight loss i have planned for this winter haha

Back in the 80s, there was a short bit in a bike magazine about a fellow who had re-painted an old frame plain white and stencilled the word "bike" on the down tube in black. He also painted on a black bar code below it. It was sort of a humorous takeoff on the generic grocery products that were starting to appear in stores about then.

Here is version 2. I think it's getting closer. I am thinking of getting rid of the red L, and possibly having it made to the same size font as the rest, so that it is just one uniform size, with the 'c' in superscript.

Any thoughts?

if the stickers are decent enough (40 bucks isn't bad if you ask me), i am thinking i will paint my cross bike black, have the same crest and such on it, but put 'space for sale' on the downtube

I like simply Clydesdale. The Mc is cool, but I would use it as a last resort. (I'm also a Mc)

The idea is awesome though. I did the same thing with my autocross car. Mazdaspeed has no parts on my car, so why have their name on it? Enter, Carlspeed.

your definately on the right track and the knockoff font of cannondale is hillarious. your other option is Clydendales with the Chippendales font!

well Mc. I figure i can always cut the M off of the front of the decal. Actually, i believe they are all cut individually so the M is definitely optional. I do like the Clydesdale on its own, gotta rep my peeps (is that how they say it these days?_

Hmmm, up to you of course, your bike, but just to throw my 2c worth in - before coming to this site I had never heard the term "Clydesdale", other than the actual horse of course! So you may still have to explain that to people.

I also like the direct approach. Clydesdale is obscure enough, with out the "Mc" added to the beginning.

I'd also consider something more...in-your-face. Something like:

Draft Horse
Beefy
Stocky-built
Brawny
Thighmaster

Keep us posted on final finish, like the graphics. Are you planning on throwing some clear paint on top, or just leaving it clear?
