88-mile trip from the Boston area to the Connecticut border, by way of the lake with the longest name in the U.S.: Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg.

the lake is nothing spectacular, but the name sure is! anyway, it was a pretty rough ride with a mile of vertical climbing. my riding buddy hadn't been out in a couple of months, so he had to walk up most of the hills & slowed us down quite a bit. We did eventually get to CT though:

here's the trip transcript. worth clicking through to see the elevation profile...

I'd rather ride that route than try to pronounce that name. :-)

I thought maybe your cat was sitting on the keyboard. :)

Congrats! Looks like a great ride. Great name for a lake. I'm guessing it's a Native American name??? Probably means something like, "Holy crap, that was a long climb."

same here, can't believe that's the actual name!

Maybe they had Mel Tillis pronouncing the name and just wrote it down phonetically.

That map and profile ROCK! That was some great up and down.

You can reliably identify natives of Webster, MA by their ability to pronounce the name of the lake.

Rts 126 & 109 are nice cycling roads, must have been a nice ride!

109 is great where there are shoulders. Where not, the potholes and motorists make it a bit of a nightmare. Bu t 126 is lovely

Wow, nice climb. I read "a mile" and thought it was a short ride. Nice!:thumb:
