    I've Lost This Much Weight

I was carrying one of my dogs, Sadie, around the other day and realized she weighed almost exactly the same amount as the weight I've lost so far. I kept carrying her until my arms ached. It really drove home the point of how much better off I am already and how much better I'll feel as I reach my goal. I still need to lose about 2 1/2 more Sadies.

I thought it might be fun to post pictures of something that represents the weight we have lost. I hope this catches on as I can't wait to see what some of our big losers come up with.

Started at 252, down 22 lbs to 230

Congrats on the 22 pounds. That's terrific work.

There are all kinds of household items folks can use to drive home this point, though few as cuddly as yours. 5-pound bags of potatoes are good for beginners on this journey. A US gallon of water is good for a little over 8 pounds. Lug one or two of those up and down the stairs a few times. If you've been at it a while, you might opt for a 5-gallon jug, or a 40-pound bag of cat litter or water softener salt.

I think I recall the Jeneralist posting once that she realized one day that she'd lost the equivalent of all the camping gear she was hauling around on her bike.

I lost the equivalent in weight of the woman to my left. So I lost an entire folksinger! This was at the intermission in MaryBeth Hammer's show at Cafe Espresso in Reading, PA, in 2006.

Back in August 2008 I had lost more than 40 lbs, and compared it to a bag of dog food. I have two dogs. One is 100 lbs, the other 50 lbs. I've now lost a 100 lb dog, even if I did gain some back.

So, in keeping with the spirit of the thread, here's me holding my "loss". Sorry for my head being cut off, I had to use the camera timer.

Hehe. Cute. Sadlly, I've not lost any weight this year. I've lost 5 inches in my hips though! I managed that and still weigh exactly the same as I did in early August. Not so much as an ounce of change. Talk about good and bad tightly mingled.

Change for the better can be measured in any number of different ways. Weight is only one of them. As you've seen, your body can continue to change in other ways. You just have to remember that they're all good, whether it's size measurements and the fit of clothing, or even less tangible changes like the way you look and feel.

Progress is progress, you only have to lose our beagle and schnauzer and you are in the zone. Makes us all wag our tails!
I think its disgusting and terrible how people treat Lance Armstrong, especially after winning 7 Tour de France Titles while on drugs!

I can't even find my bike when I'm on drugs. -Willie N.
