Best triple crankset in 48/38/28 or similar
My brother has been watching me ride my bike and losing weight, so he has decided to get into it....he's got a complete bike with a busted crankset. He's ridden my GT Transeo 2.0 with its 48/38/28 crankset and really likes it....He's 6-1, 295, so what crankset you reckon might work? Don't mind swapping out the bottom bracket on the bike....I know it is currently 68mm English.

Virginian, If your brother's bike is a mountain bike or hybrid with a square tape BB this is worth an inexpensive look: https://aebike.com/product/fsa-a-driv...r4162-qc30.htm .

I roll with a Sugino triple and have no complaints whatsoever.

The bike is a hyrbrid
and I believe it is a square taper....but he is not against changing out the BB if it gets him a good triple.

Sadly, decent 28/38/48 "trekking" cranks are getting harder and harder to find. For my touring bike, I went with a Shimano Deore FC-M532 26/36/48 crank. Price was around $120-130 and the bottom bracket was included. Looks like the successor to the M532 is the Shimano FC-M590 crank.

May be a good deal, but the standard 22/32/44 mountain bike gearing isn't what the OP wants...
