199.6
FINALLY! I've been a Clyde for over 12 years now, and it was pretty cool seeing the scale have the first number as a 1.
First, a little background...I'm 33, male, 6', married, two kids, and have been pretty fair weather when it comes to cycling and living an active lifestyle. I was about 230 when I got married in 1999, and have been holding my weight at about 220-225 for a long ass time. I think the problem was that I didn't see my excess weight as a "big" enough problem. Sure, I carried around a gut, but most people do. I was "skinny" enough to not look "fat", and maybe that was my downfall. I finally started to realize that the number of years I had to have an ideal body image was dwindling fast. Not that people can't look great into their 40's and beyond, but I think it probably gets a hell of a lot tougher. I also came to terms with the fact that I was 40 something pounds overweight throughout my twenties, and that I wasn't going to just will the pounds off.
Then I decided to get back into cycling and started racing cross. I dropped 10 pounds pretty quick, then held out at 205 starting in January. While most people noticed that I had lost a fair amount of weight, I still wasn't happy with my body image, and my race performance was still poor. I definitely was getting better, but I was, as my avatar says, in the top 90%. Not exactly what I want my legacy to be.
So up until recently, I've been between 200.6 and 203 for a couple of months, and while admittedly not working at weight loss super hard, it was still frustrating. I have been trying to not go real crazy (all you can eat pizza, etc), and started commuting once a week, and it just seems that I wasn't putting it together. I am even undertaking a tri in a couple of weeks, and even with impending doom encroaching quickly, my workout routine has been lacking. Getting in some decent exercise and trying to moderate caloric intake is tougher than one would think! So I've redoubled my efforts over the last week or so, and I finally saw that "1" this morning.
Now I just want to keep pressing on for cyclocross race season, and getting somewhere in the mid-180's before Sept. 1. I think that's certainly an attainable goal, but gotta keep my eyes on the prize. And hopefully I won't drown in the tri.
Thanks for letting me bend your ear for a few, and I really am impressed with a lot of the stories I've read here in this sub-forum. You have been an inspiration to me and many others. With a bit more work, I hope to drop a few more pounds so even my heavy days show a weight of 1xx.

Congratulations on the weight loss. I'm sorry to inform you, but at 6' tall you're still a clyde. Back in the pasture you go.

Just remember once you lose, you gotta keep sticking to your diet and exercise. I am a good example of what happens when you dont...I was 195ish till I started working (in factories at that), I am now about 235 I am trying to slowly change how I eat and what I do with my non-work time. It has been very hard for me to adjust, as I work second shift and that kind of leads to staying up late, sleeping in, and not having time to get out and do something. I forced myself to mow (push mow) our lawn today, which is a good thing
Congratulations, and I hope to be under 200 again someday as well! I am just taking the slow approach to try to change not only my exercise routine, but also my eating routine. Keep up the good work, and you might want to just get to 195 and stay there a while before losing more, let your body adjust!

Thanks! I'm only losing about a pound per week, and I'd like to get to 17x before cyclocross season starts. We'll see!
I've worked nights before and that totally screws up any ideas about getting fit. You tend to eat more working off hours, and your sleep is crap. I don't miss those days at all. Hang in there, and just keep putting one foot in front of the other. It seems that once you lose a couple of pounds, you can build up some mental momentum and start whittling those pounds off. Good luck!

Congrats! I'm 5'8" on a good day and weighed in today at 233.6....I lost 30lbs but I so desperately want to be under 200....right now I would love to see 229! seems I am stuck at this 233. This week I walked 4.5mi twice along with cycling 10 miles. Anyway, congrats on your loss....keep it up.

I'm here to tell you it DOES get harder as you get older... and you'll start to learn the meaning of the word "recovery" ha ha.
A pound a week is a great number and so's 200 - congrats and keep up the fine work.

Congratulations!!! That's awesome and I'm jealous!
Also I thought this was about you riding 199.6 miles, and I was going to say, "GO BACK OUT RIGHT NOW AND RIDE 0.4 MILES MORE OR I AM GOING TO HAVE AN OCD ATTACK!"
But 199.6 pounds is fantastic

What would really suck is if you hit a pothole and taco'ed a wheel with .4 miles to go in a double century. Ug. That'd be like oversleeping at the Olympics.

To see a number with a '1' in front is one of the milestones in my journey. Just 15lbs to go and I'll be there

You've done spectacular thus so far, but have to stay "hungry" for success. I think I'm preaching to the choir though. Keep it up, and one day you'll smile at the scale as you haven't thus so far!

But this is your thread, rtb - congrats on the continuing loss, and the fitness and performance improvements. You're a genuine inspiration.

Congrats!
I hit that point over a year ago and feel off the wagon. I'm currently around 220 lbs and want to get back down below 200 lbs again.
Again, Congrats and keep up the good work!

Congrats to you. I went through a similar process last year. 6'1" 210 plus or minus pounds. Got down to 170 by riding my bike and eating healthier (veggies/fish and stopped with snacks and pizza), and much more water instead of soda. Winter has been kind of hard, as has trying to rehab a knee and I'm at 175 now. But back to running and swimming now in the nice 17* snowy weather. Feels funny jogging past people all snowsuited up with their snowblowers, and I run by in tights and light jacket I imagine they think I'm crazy. But I feel better at 35 than I did at 25. I intend to stay this way, and hopefully teach my 20 month old twins to be healthy as well.
Good luck in your CX season, and your tri! I have entered a tri in August too. Learning how to swim distance efficiently has been eye opening! Being bike and running fit helps, but damn swimming can burn some btu's!

I'm 6', 204 lbs and would like to get down to 190. I've seen a trainer and started a strength training program to improve my climbing. The trainer's emphasis is on converting fat weight (24%) to muscle weight (with denser, not larger muscles). Anything below 195 if I can gain a lot of strength would be fine with me. Oh, and I've seen under 200, but only when somewhat dehydrated. We've also gone to smaller dinner plates and more salads which can only help.

Congratz mate, fantastic effort. I'm a metric man myself, so longing to get down to just double digits again, and losing the "1" at the front!!
