Heaviest - 304.5 a few years ago, 264.5 when I got serious in April '10.

01/01 - 210.5
01/08 - 209.5
01/15 - 210.5
01/22 - 208.5

This week's weigh-in was gratifying, after the up-and-down of the past several weeks. It'll be a challenge to keep it going through the rest of the week, though, since the weekend was full of house guests and a big chili party for my wife's birthday. So now I'm on a 5-day death march.

Unfortunately there was a problem this weekend that involves this thread and the forum in general, and I want to clear the air a little.

I received a request to remove someone from this thread, because he was turned off by the attitudes and tone displayed in another thread on the forum, and no longer wants to spend time here.

Now if someone is as sensitive as a a baby seal condom and can't take the rough and tumble here, that's there choice. But folks, please, remember:

1. I am not a moderator on Bike Forums. I have never been a moderator on Bike Forums.

2. I am not a moderator of this thread. I've been starting it for the past six weeks now, because I'm up about this time and want to do my part for the group, but I don't control the thread. If you want to stop participating, just stop. If you want to join, join in.

3. Really, folks, if you don't like a thread, don't read it. If you don't like a certain poster, ignore them. You can do both and still participate here.

Thanks.

While I thought it would be going quicker ( ie, more than 5 lbs in a month, I guess it is still going the right direction! Haha.

12/27 245
1/3 244
1/10 243
1/17 241
1/24 240

PS- Historian, really! Baby seal condom! I may have to steal that line and bust it out next time someone in my family is being a big crybaby! It is like people that complain about TV shows and dont change the channel!

I'm back up to 282.6. This is what happens to a formerly active man who is having a hard time walking at the moment.

I think I hit bottom on Monday night, after two days of my knee injuries flaring up just as I thought I was improving. I postponed indefinitely my cross country trip Friday night. I spent all day Saturday coping with the overwhelming support I was offered by my friends on Facebook. The stress and lack of sleep caught up to me when I nearly fainted shopping on Sunday.

It's not original. It's from Tom Reedy on the Shakespeare newsgroups. It was used to describe anti-Stratfordians who propose theories about the 'true author' of the Shakespeare canon and then get upset when anyone criticizes their ideas.

No mo' yo-yo. I mean it. This week's gonna be busy, but it can be done.

(puts on record of sitar music) We need to get some positive vibes flowing through here, man. It's time to replace "I think I can do it" with "I will do it."

Think of this as climbing a mountain. Sometimes you gotta stop or take a step back to readjust your footing and get ready for the big ascent. And there's worse things to happen than find yourself "coping with the overwhelming support." You could've been "coping with the overwhelming indifference."

Just take care of yourself for a bit and get downshifted into a slightly different mindset. If you're not exercising much, you can't eat like you did when you were. But that's not even really all that important right now in the bigger picture of taking care of yourself.

I take that back. It is original, to an extent, because I misquoted. Here's the line from 2003:

"Chortling? CHORTLING? Dude, I'm just trying to help her grow a skin thicker than a baby seal condom."

I've lost a total of 6.2#'s! I'm excited and motivated. Really dreaded the scales this morning as I have not been pushing very hard this week due to cuttin firewood and then yesterday was NFL Championship day and that meant no workout and PARTY!
will be back on the plan this week.
Now I get to go Red Lobster for lunch as a reward. Will only eat out once per week and then only if I lose weight. Oh and that will ony be after a good workout.
Good luck to all ya'll.
Tony

Got my game back!

I've been in training for a group run, so a few times a week I've been getting my heart rate into the 160s. (The "Couch to 5K" program features alternating brief runs and walks -- so far I'm up to max 3 minutes running at a time.) Plus, no more eating late at night.

Of course, today my left Achilles tendon is screaming, I'm limping around the office, and I'm not sure what I'll be doing for tonight's areobic session. But that's a question for later in the evening. For now, I'll be be happy with the results of the week's efforts.

We all know I was about 435 pound when I started this journey back in the fall of 2009.

1/3 = 280.0
1/10 = 273.4
1/17 = 272.2
1/24 = 271.8

Honestly, this would go much faster if I didn't gain 5 pounds before losing 6 each week. Seriously. Watching the scales is weird right now for me. I can't wait till Winter is over and I can get my groove back.

I someone thinks of our little tea parties here as "rough and tumble," I hope they don't venture into the Road section of the forum.

Last week I was 284 lbs
Today's weigh-in: 282 lbs. Hurrah!

This week's goal is to add vegetables to my afternoon snack. I'm gonna start with traditional carrot & celery sticks.
