The only riding i do in the snow is IN my Subaru. Warm cockpit, good tunes and the best AWD system available in a small car. They use too much salt here for me to torture ANY of my bikes. I have thought about trying ice fishing and putting studded tires on my beater bike, then buying a cheap used kids trailer for putting gear in... but Fishing to me means sitting in a kayak or on the bank with tshirt and jeans...

I think it would be cool, well more than cool I'd give it try with the right gear. I think it would be a blast. I did go on a ride up into the mtns last year (roadbike). Hit some ice, cranks spun. I couldn't figure it out for a few seconds, thought I snapped the BB. Realized I was on ice, dismounted then started sliding down the road on my cleats (mtb shoes). I turned and went home. I'm sure the right equipment helps.
