Athena climbing video

I was having a conversation via PM with Mr. Beanz and he suggested that I post my latest sufferfest climbing video here. I'm 5' 4" and 164 lbs. Until he told me, I had no idea that the Athena category started at 150. I thought it was 200 like the Clydesdale.

Since I don't believe in putting music over the ride audio of my videos, it is pure, raw suffering, so be forewarned.

Thank you for posting that! Up until now I hadn't full appreciated how nice and flat Louisiana is... :)
and here I was complaining about the occasional alligator on the side of the road and the multitude of pot holes... I'll take gators any day over climbs like that!

Seriously, nice video. That has to be an incredible workout.

My videos would have to have music, just to keep them work safe. I'd have been cussing for sure going up those hills!

freighttraininguphill 02-06-11 09:44 PM

Thank you :). Believe it or not, I LOVE climbing! Even though it takes so much more effort with an extra 40 pounds of blubber. When I started my weight loss last May I weighed in at 214. Climbing is what helped me drop weight the fastest.

seenoweevil 02-06-11 10:02 PM

My Goodness! I had to sit down and have a glass of iced tea just from watching that! I'm curious, what kind of camera are you using? Handlebar mount or helmet mount? Great job and great video!

freighttraininguphill 02-06-11 10:05 PM

LOL! Thank you :)

I'm using my Casio EX-S12 point-and-shoot camera on a handlebar mount.

Mr. Beanz 02-06-11 10:30 PM

Yup! I made a little suggestion to BT about posting the video here. Totally awesome! First of all, losing weight, busting arse on the climbs, having the courage to attack the hills and most of all , having the courage as a woman to post a sufferfest video. Cool video with al the wheezing, huffing and puffing, and sound effects. Most women don't want anyone to hear even a sneeze form them. This gal goes out on a limb posting the hard core breathing that a climb brings out in ya! Plus it's motivation for you clydes to get out and give it a try!:thumb:

Nice job BT, climb, climb and more climb. You guys might learn something from this gal!:D

My hat is off to her, totally awesome!

FTR, I got special permisson from Bentrike to post this in my blog and (other places) as a special guest climbing video. So don't be surprised if....when you see it on my blog That's how awesome this type of stuff is!;)

Thanks Mr. Beanz :)

Damn I wish I could change my username here without messing up all my old posts. I most certainly don't ride my recumbent trike up these types of climbs LOL!

Notify/ask TomStormecrow, he's been known to help out posters with this type of issue. :thumb:

Thanks :). I read the FAQ about changing usernames and it was mentioned in there that changing it messes up your old posts. I'll contact him and see what he says.

BTW Bentrike, I suggested this forum cause these guys are some of the more supportive members I've encountered. Comments are either humorous or supportive but rarely insulting!:thumb:

Salmon falls - whew! I sound like that on most hills. When I'm not swearing, that is.

ecovelo 02-07-11 01:59 AM

Well done! ...very inspiring! :thumb:

Would that be the El Dorado County "Salmon Falls"?

Thanks for letting us in on that!

Sure is! One of my favorite rides.

timmythology 02-07-11 02:33 AM

Wow, that is a nice ride, and it looks very straight on the map. It's nice to have your garmin to check the stats in the video, not even Mr. Beanz does that, shows a very professional approach to our entertainment needs. I also felt that your breathing was very steady, so very nice climb.

twobadfish 02-07-11 02:45 AM

Awesome climb! I too like climbing for the workout and weight loss effects. Keep it up :)

rm -rf 02-07-11 08:08 AM

I rode in and out of New Orleans in November it was the nicest ride of my life. I envy you.

And yeah nice ride, I really only ride fixed gear, so I would have been drained about 5 minutes in or so

antimike 02-07-11 11:29 AM

thanks for posting...nice vid! I definitely am looking forward to giving some climbs all I'm worth.

Daspydyr 02-07-11 11:38 AM

Noble effort and nice scenery. Stay strong.

salesman 02-07-11 11:50 AM

I'm inspired. Thank you from a newbie.
