no excuses here. I could have done better. I could have exercised on the trainer but I didn't. It is what it is, and I'll just have to work on it. I have realized I need to start watching the portions I am eating again. I need to get refocused.

12/13 = 229.0 lbs
12/20 = 228.5 lbs
12/27 = 232.0 lbs

As mentioned in a different post, the gain was due to Super Bowl activities (I'd reckon there's a little water weight in there, as well...no way did I eat 7000 calories). Back on the plan I go...

Not bad for needing to spend some time on the Disabled List. About 3 weeks ago, I did something to my left heel while I was on the treadmill. So I switched to the elliptical... then to swimming... then to swimming with a little float between my ankles to keep me from flutter-kicking.

Guys, you are among the few I trust to understand just how weird it feels to WANT to exercise and to STRUGGLE to find a way to do it! I mean, a year and a half ago I was a happy couch potato!

So I went to the Sports Medicine doc today. It's not the dreaded chronic Achilles tendinosis; it looks like I've got some bursitis near my heel instead. So no running; no walking for exercise (although back and forth to work is OK). A heel lift, regular stretching, prescribed exercises, and some Alleve will help me feel better and get better. The good news? He says I can ride! (As long as I do it with the saddle lower than usual, so I don't work my ankle.)

Went a month since last weighin. Really helped with emotional ups and downs of weekly/daily/compulsive weighins. Have to admit that I struggled with not knowing how I was doing. I figured I'd not lose as much and was looking for 4 lbs. of drop instead of the 8-10 lbs. that I've been averaging the last 6 months.

1/4/11-232lbs
2/6/11-224lbs

Monthly weighins aren't for everybody but I've been at this for so long (1 1/2 years) that the habits are pretty well ingrained into me now. I would call the experiment a success. Oh and by the way 225 was my original goal.

Only 2x on the trainer this past week, ran a 5K on the dreadmill. Friday(stromboli0 and Saturday(Outback Wings and Pasta) night dinners prolly didn't help but I still managed to lose something. Seemed to slip back into a funk with all the sucky Pennsylvania weather this past week. Haven't touched a soda in over a week which is a huge change for me. Someone told me that yogurt has something in it that kind of squashes your desire for the junky stuff. I must say I am a believer. I have added lo-cal yogurts as a snack between meals and I had no cravings for any junk food(chips, chocolate, ice cream, etc). Just need to up my physical activity(60 mins each day on the trainer, with some weightlifting and a run thrown in during the week). I am in a good place right now and want to keep going. So funk, you can just piss off!!!

Today 280 lbs.

No nudging down on the scale. I reviewed my food log and exercise log from the last week and it looked pretty good. I think this week I will bump up the exercising. I bought a dvd "Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred" and did it twice last week. I took Sunday off to recover (oh my thighs and abs HURT!). I'm looking forward to my 30 minutes of shredding and my 1 hour walk later this afternoon. Onward and upward!

Absolutely dreadful week as far as diet and exercise. Started out well enough, but having to work out of town in the middle of the week led to some extremely poor food choices followed up by "celebrating" my wife's birthday and the Super Bowl.

On the positive side, I was reminded that eating poorly makes me feel horrible. I also consumed enough sodium that I'm probably slightly pickled and should be able to drop the water that I'm retaining fairly quickly. Oh well, slight bump in the road, but the journey continues.

Wow, total 10#'s since Jan1. It has been tough and I would not be here if it weren't for you guy's. You may not know how much just being there helps. Reading all your post humbles me and I do appreciate all the participants. The weight coming off is nice but the loose (once tight) pants and having to wear my old belt a couple notches smaller is GREAT. Sorry for shoutin. ;-) Especially since I really did not have to wear a belt as the pants were so tight. ;-0 Still not working out as regular as I would like but watching what I eat and smaller portions. No snacks unless fruit, dried or fresh, juice, and no sugar or fried anything.

Goals for the week. Put some miles on the new bike I just received or just start doing some walking. I need to get a new wheelset for my new ride. I believe the spoke count is indeed too low in the front for my current weight/stature.

Do you think it would be fine to ride even if they creak just a bit on the front or should I just wait?

Good luck to everyone!

I was my lightest weight on Tuesday and then stalled. Skipped the diet for some home made chili and a beer during the Super Bowl. I hope the plateau is broken this week.

RIDE IT! Hey, I creak when I ride and my bike still lets me get on! If your wheels fail, well, you were getting new ones anyway, right? If not: bonus miles - all good!

With my heaviest weight being somewhere north of 435 lbs. back in the late summer of 2009, I've been working my way down since October of 2009.

1/3 = 280.0
1/10 = 273.4
1/17 = 272.2
1/24 = 271.8
1/31 = 269.6
2/7 = 265.4

It's a record low for me, but I also injured my knee on Sunday running a 10K, so riding and running are suspended for a little while. In the mean time, I've been compensating by doing some serious weight sessions focused on the upper body.'m going to try and keep things in check, but I know I'll also be in sad shape next week. It is my wife's birthday AND Valentine's day, which will probably mean dinner out and champagne or wine. I will do my best as always, but I know it will still move the scale up at least a little bit.

I took it easy the first two weeks of the year. Just walking 1-2 miles a day. I did it to bring my metabolism back up as I was cold all the time. Worked out well.
