Cold Weather and Haircuts

Gawd I hate the thought of cutting my hair in the cold weather. Seems that's the only thing we've had lately. Am I the only one that hates a trim in the cold weather?

I hate it but my hair is getting so long lately that no matter what I try, it still looks shaggy!

When I ride bikes, I have to keep my hair short. Like, 'give me a #4 on the top and #2 on the sides' kind of short. Otherwise, it just looks like crap when I'm not actually wearing a helmet. Just can't do a thing with it.

I shave mine bald year around - with the exception of hunting season when I let it grow out a little bit so my hat doesn't slide off

Nope; I'm hair-o-dynamic all year round! I have a ponytail to the middle of my back and have had one for MANY years.

Good old Abba!

I need one too. It's getting in my eyes and it probably looks like trailer trash. But dammit, I NEED my winter coat! It's even colder up here, especially at night.

I have perpetual hat head from November until March, and I usually will only get a trim, just before Christmas. Otherwise I leave it long, in the winter, and have it short in the summer. Your in SoCal, you don't get cold, it's -10℃ (14℉) here today, supposed to be above freezing around the end of the week, then back cold again Sunday and then start slowly heading up again, I think winter is pretty much done...

+1, though there's less and less to shave every year... I usually wear a bandanna under my helmet. Keeps me warm when it's cool, plus keeps the sweat from rolling in my eyes.

I got a buzz right before Christmas and haven't cut it since. I got pretty cold here so I had to wear a hat (I don't normally wear one) most of the cold part of winter.

I went with a buzz cut when I started bike touring. It's easier to keep very short hair clean when on tour. And since I look marginally better with short hair, I've decided to keep it buzzed all year long.

I spent 20 years with short hair, or at least people telling me to get a haircut. I cut it when I want. But it is getting close to warm weather might need to trim it a bit... Yes, drives my wife nuts...

Haha, I've had clippers since about 94. Give me a #1 guard and two mirrors, and all set Hair place used to do it once a week for five bux for five minutes. Boss must've told em to start charging me full price, so the second time I paid twelve bux I went and bought my own clippers. At one point I needed a cut and didn't have time so went to a different place. Girl messed the height above my ears up, but she rubbed her boobs on my neck so nice I went back once more. She messed em up the same that time, so boobs or no boobs, I've been back cutting my own hair ever since!

I usually get mine cut every 3-4 weeks except in the winter. I'll cut it early Dec, then not until Feb. When I was younger I wore it long. I cut it when I was 15 years old, then didn't cut it again till I was 22.

My Mom was a hairdresser and cut my hair my entire life. I got it cut once a month. Then, in August of 2005 she was diagnosed with MS. The pain caught up to her and I couldn't handle her shaking when she cut my hair. She would have been devastated if I went somewhere else... so, I let it grow for a little over a year.

After hearing about it from some of the middle managers at work, I decided to have her buzz it. Then, a week later I shaved it all off. Kept it that way for almost a year. Then, she told me she was finished cutting hair. I grew it back.

Now, I hate going to get it cut. Takes too much time...

Bummer to hear about Mom BA! My daughter cuts my hair but moved 45 minutes away so it's a little harder to make appointments. But I'd rather pay her $20 than give $12 to the butcher next door. She'd do it for free but I insist.

Ahhh much better now!

Believe it or not, I also cut my own hair with clippers. I've got a #12 attachment, which is the longest one available. It gives a 1 1/2" cut. Two mirrors and running the clippers all over my head a bunch of times to make it even still gives me a better result than the cuts I had to pay for in shops years ago. It's great for warmer weather, and I don't even have to comb it.

I don't mind trims, but then when the hair is half-way down one's back, what's a few inches? I can't bring myself to even attempt a short cut. Yes, hair grows, but mine seems to grow slowly and I'm not patient enough to wait 3 years to get rid of a cut I hate.

Exactly the cut I get. Sometimes I'll try to let it grow out in the winter, but it usually drives me so nuts that I'm back to the short cut by January.

I don't have much of a hair style per say... but I've been told it is somewhat similar to a female Justin Bieber (which really is just a 2011 version of a Bobby Sherman).

In warmer months (especially in the 90's or higher) I often throw the helmet on while the hair is still damp. My first glimpse in the mirror - which is often hours into my work shift - I am still surprised the find the various crimped and creased stylings my helmet has created. Looks super cool. not.

I keep thinking I may start a trend.... but so far no one has followed....

I shave my head year 'round, and I grow my beard out long for the winter to keep my face warm while riding.
