Sorry, but a CM ride in my city would HAVE to be raw

Lots of honks, both pro and con, bell ringing by the riders, yells of support from pedestrians, and interesting conversations and chants from the riders.

Not that I have actually gone on a CM ride or anything

Actually, I used to parallel them in the alleyways and side streets, always staying a bit ahead of them so I could watch the mayhem without actually being involved and drawing the ire of motorists who might remember me later when I'm riding solo, which is all the time.

That was different. Funny, some of the riders lose it, Guessing from the ice.

They were riding skinny road tires...not so good in the snow and ice.

I was going to include audio but due to my camera mounting (on my front rack to get some light from my headlight) I had nothing but the hum of my studded tires most of the time.
In the warmer months the ride gets from 200-300 people and most motorists are cool...so no reason to be scared
It's hard to get mad at people yelling Happy Friday!

Our CM rides have mellowed out some, last I heard. But for a while the clash between the riders and motorists was so bad it made the news several times. I witnessed a pretty nasty confrontation between the riders and a motorist once. I didn't have a camera, but one of the riders did. Unfortunately they edited out the other part I saw, which was a rider trying to open the passenger door of the car while the driver's child sat in the passenger seat, terrified Here's their version of what happened:

Here's a news story from one incident 3 years ago:

I have seen that video before, she had no right to run him over. But in my opinion the cm riders could have just taken one lane to let the cars go by. It doesn't take much to make a JAM angry. In a situation like that just call the police, the poor kid doesn't deserve to be tormented because her parent is an idiot.
Our rides are nothing like that...thank goodness. On the occasion that I have corked an intersection I am pretty polite to the motorists. That includes thanking them for their patience and explaining why we ride if they ask. Too bad Sacramento rides are like that , we have hundreds of people and it's so much calmer. Some motorists get angry but you'll have that.

Oh I'm not defending the motorist's actions at all. Both parties could have handled the situation better, IMO. Thank goodness our rides have mellowed out since then (AFAIK).

I actually watched the whole thing. I saw a handcycle in there, which is something I've only seen around here while watching a race.

Looked like traffic was very light there too. Here it's the opposite, and the riders taking up the entire road blocks traffic and enrages motorists.

The second song was cool too
