New life, new bike
 
Hello I just bought my first bike ever. I never learned to ride a bike when i was young so don't know the first thing about them.

I started hiking and eating well and went from over 700 pounds at oNe point in my life Down to 400.

So i thought I'd get my first bike. I'm the new owner of a sun ez-3 usx hd trike.

Took my first ride the other day and loved it, it was hard and challenging. Especially all the gears to figure out lol But one leg cramp later and i was still wanting more. So can't wait for my next day off to go riding again.

Way to go. Riding outside is way more interesting than inside on an exercise bike.
Pick relatively flat rides to begin with. After you have built some stamina, you will be ready for hills.

And who knows? This time next year you may be on two wheels.

Brilliant progress - keep it up!

I'm sure you really will catch the cycling bug. There's a whole world out there just waiting to be explored!

There's a guy on another cycling forum that I'm a member of and through cycling he has got down from over 39 stone (550 pounds) to 14 stone (under 200 pounds) in about 2 years. (His blog)

Inspiring people, both of you!

I want to lose about 3.5 stone (50 pounds) but I'm only making slow progress. Every time I read about big guys like you and Gaz losing so much weight, it really gives me an incentive to try harder.

WOW! That is awesome! That's a lot of weight off your joints, so you've got to be feeling better. You're a little under my starting weight now - I was at 425. You'll be amazed how much better you'll feel at 350. My next big goal is 300 and the ultimate goal is around 225 or so. You're making great progress and you'll find a ton of support in this sub-forum. Stay out of the Roadies area though - unless you've got really thick skin :) They consider 6'3", 195 lbs fat...

Welcome! I'll repeat what has already been mentioned, because it's extremely important: Keep it fun, and you'll never stop! When I got back into cycling again, I started out thinking I needed to race everywhere I went, pushing myself hard. After a couple of slower, less frantic rides I realized what I was missing by pushing so hard. Now I ride more often, just a bit more relaxed, and the speed is increasing as my fitness level is increasing too. I enjoy the act itself more than getting to the destination.

Watch your diet to be sure you eat greens & fruits since your body will need good foods to ride. Suggest that take one Potassium pill everyday while you ride to deal with leg cramps. No harm and will work.

Thanks everyone it's been a lot of hard work but I feel so much better and can just get around so much more. Went riding this morning for about 45 minutes. Keep it to flat ground for now. Hills soon haha. Having tons of fun tho. Like the ride like your invisible thing as well....haha

So anyway i I was barely able to go 2.5 miles per ride today I did 3.5 miles so looks like the hard work is paying off. :thumb:

so im up to about 80 miles on the bike now

Glad that you are on the road. Cycling is addicting and will have a very positive impact on you health. There are a lot of place to explore. Keep up the good work!
