I realized at last night's spin class that the smallest of the bibs I have currently (a pair of Cannondales) is getting a little loose and droopy on me. With the new cycling season coming up, and this foolish commitment I made to participate in a relay tri in June, I figured it was time to spring for a new pair, even though I can't really afford it right now.

Everyone here has had such great things to say about the Falconi Deluxe bibs from Love2Pedal, I thought I'd give them a try. So I just ordered a pair to see how good they are, and how true their sizing is. I don't have a tape measure at hand, but I do know I fit easily in 38" jeans these days, so I figured I'd give an XL a shot, based on their charts. We'll see how that works when they show up.

In the meantime, thanks for all the tips folks have posted here about the Falconis and about Love2Pedal. After the CLYD discount code, the pair was $35.95, shipping included. If they're even remotely OK, it'll be a great deal. I only wish I could have afforded two pair, for the extra discount.

I've found that sizing for jeans doesn't really seem to match anything else in the real world... possibly because denim stretches? At my biggest, I was wearing 34-inch Levis while my dress pants were 36- or 38-inches. If you measure your waist (or stomach; whichever is larger) with a tape measure the sizing on Love2Pedal is pretty accurate. As you get toward the top of the size range, the bibs start to get pretty snug. If you don't like snug, the next size up might be more comfortable. The good news is that the bibs have a 30-day guarantee and Dan at Love2Pedal is great about exchanges.

I just got back from a casual first ride in my Falconi XL bibs. I wear size 36 jeans rather well and I think CraigB will find these to be Welcomely Motivational

Men's clothing manufacturers lie. It's called 'vanity sizing'. A '36' jean, depending on brand, might actually be 1-4" larger than 36".

Dress slacks are much less likely to use vanity sizing than jeans or khakis.

I'm betting the XL will fit you well provided you don't have really big thighs and/or a long torso. Hope you got the bibs with the colored stitching.... black is so "plain"!

Nice... I assume you've seen Beanz modeling his yellows in the fashion thread. I have blue and red s0 far and like the bibs a lot... especially given the price.

They came yesterday and I had a chance to try them on. They are definitely snug. Doable, for sure, but until I drop another 10 pounds or so, I'll be a little worried about something blowing out. I've tried bike shorts that are too small before, where you can't even begin to get into them, and this isn't like that - it's more like it's taking a little more effort than normal to get into them, and once in, I'm not completely comfy and confident. But I'll give them a shot on the road and see how they work out there.

Also, they came with a discount coupon for my next order, and a "bicycle" themed key chain/bottle opener. A nice couple of surprises from a nice company.

I think I would return them for a larger size before I used them.... just my 2 cents....
