    Garmin Upload Error

I tried a search, but couldn't find any relevant posts, so I thought I would ask here.
    Has anybody received this message?
Went for a ride yesterday and my Edge 500 performed as normal. I even looked at the stats before I shut it off. I came home and tried to upload the file (manually) and it gave me an error. So I shut off my work laptop and tried it on the old PC we have sitting around that has the automatic upload plugin installed. Again upload error. So I power up the until and access the history and it is like the ride never happened. I can see the .fit file when I view the device on my laptop, but it appears that nothing was saved. It is not a big deal, unless it continues.
Just wondering if anybody has had any similar experiences or an explanation of what happened.
    Thanks

If you look on the Garmin forums you will see that this is somewhat common. I've done about 150 rides with my Edge 500 and had 2 rides with corrupted data. If the data is there (look at the file size) then a guy on the forum can repair the file so that it can be read. If you don't have any data (sounds like it in your case) then nothing can be done.

All in all, I'm very happy with my 500 and will deal with 1-2% of files having problems.

Thanks, I guess that is what I was getting at. If I only have a problem every once in a while then it will be annoying, but not a deal breaker. I really like it otherwise.
I will double check the file size. Never thought to do it last night. Duh!

How big is the file? Zero bytes, or more than that? Unfortunately, fit files are harder to fix than gpx, which is somewhat human readable. But, if it's not empty, you can probably recover most of the data.
    Don't believe everything you think.
