Bikes: Had a Surly Cross Check - was totaled in recent accident. Sadly now just a Fuji Crosstown as a backup bike.

Had my record time yesteday. . .

A guy that about once a month rides locally with us (from another state) - who is a tri-racer, has been watching my progress since 285 lbs. He 'always' has dropped me on short order. Yesterday we did a ride in rolling hills. He weighs 160ish - with a carbon bike. I'm around 210 now with a 28 lb steel surly cross bike.

We went 20 miles at an 'average' speed of 23mph in rolling hills. We were moving. It is the fastest I've cleared any distance. He couldn't drop me this time. He still spins up hills faster than me, however I've been working on spinning alot. When I go for grocery runs, I've been spinning as fast as I can without bouncing working on cadence, etc.

Recently started swimming, too. When I hit 190 the running starts

awesome bro, good for you

Your progress has been amazing, its nice to see some great success stories. I weigh in at 209 right now and run a couple times a week. I bet you could start now, just progress slowly

Wish you lived around me, Id love to go for a ride with someone around my size

Whoa, I`m blown away , still averaging just under 14 on a 20 mile loop that has rolling hills and a few longer ones.I have been jogging for a few months,2.5-3.4 miles. I`m currently 239lbs. As for running, what are you waiting for? Cycling is great but have found it to make for heavy legs, maybe just me. The running, especially trail, is a nice mix and challenges your muscles and cardio in a completely different way. Another thing that I recently found out is running/jogging burns more calories, well at my pace anyway. At 23 mph you may be burning as much if not more. Anyway, congrats on the HUGE pace, sounds like he`ll be trying to catch you soon.
