Out of commission for a while
Just as I was getting into my riding....
Of course thats why I started riding, been having issues with my heels for years. Some days I could hardly walk.
So I had my right heel done - Calcium deposits scraped off achilles tendon, Heel spur removed, Achilles tendon re-attached with anchors to heel bone.
Can not put weight on my right leg for 4 weeks.
Being my size on crutches is not easy.

I wouldn't quit exercise during this time. I'd check out the gym for arm crank bike you could also do upper body strength training. It would be great to keep the cardio up so you don't lose it. Get well soon

Since you're in an advisory capacity now. I'm looking for good 30 mile route in southern Indiana. CraigB's got this wild idea that he wants to do the "Hilly Hundred" this fall and needs a sanity check.

A good friend of mine had a heel spur removed a few years ago. It put him out of commission for several weeks, but once he healed he started jogging / running like a madman and lost a lot of weight. If I hadn't seen the change in progress, I wouldn't recognize him. Anyway, to get to the point: Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
