    Ride of my life!

I started riding a year ago, in fact, in one week it will be a year.
Now, 70lbs lighter, I have done my greatest ride. I have done
several 100 milers, but not fast ones.

Today, with rain just over the horizon I took off early for a short
ride before breakfast. Knowing I may get wet. I pushed hard because
I knew I wasn't going far this time.

55 minutes later I returned home.

    Distance, 20.4miles!

It hurt and I thought I was going to throw up when I stopped.
But, this was the greatest moment of my cycling life!

BTW, I never stopped, no drinks, no rest! Just pedaled like I
was being chased by the devil.

I am going to take a nap now, it is raining like mad!

    I love these PR posts!

It's funny because when other rides post a "no motivation" thread, I suggest they go do an all out ride, test themselves. Or maybe work up to a PR ride over the course of a couple of weeks. More fun!

Sadly most of the repsonses are "I'm not a racer, I only ride for fun!".....Duuuuuuh! Pushing oneself and testing yourself to "your" limit is big fun too, especially when you have no other reason to ride! And quite motivating, which they seem to be lacking.

If they could do it for fun, they'd see that like your post, it's quite an accomplishment and F-U-N! Maybe broaden their horizons so that they'd see that there is more to a "fun" ride than just tootling around with a camera.

    Stoke yourself, it's FUN!

Effin' awesome, dude! You'll remember this one forever
The best thing about setting a personal record is now you know how good you can be, and suddenly everything less than that just seems insufficient! The result: you push even harder and set new records and then push harder!! What's the opposite of a vicious cycle, lol

Where do you sign up for that little sprint race they have in France every year??

BTW, this was on an old iron Trek, yard sale find, fitness bike.

    It's not the bike!

    It's you! Good job.

    WOOHOO!!!

Im proud of you! I bet you felt like Levi Liephiemer when you hit the last 500 feet!

Getting my bike tuned and I am making a 110% effort tomorrow in my Waikiki to Kapolei ride! I am hoping for better than a 90 minute.

Rest well and kudos to you!

Nice job. I'm still trying to find a decent biking route with low traffic and not many stoplights / stop signs. All the neighborhood riding with stop signs at every block kills my average. I know it doesn't really matter in the end as far as weight loss goes (as long as I'm still pushing it), but I'd like to see what I could do with a non-stop pedaling ride..

That is darn fast for a 55 minute ride. You definitely deserve a pat on the back.

    Thanks to all.

I did a nice easy 40 miler today. On one long slight down hill I was
doing about 30mph when I heard a little voice call out "On your left",
A little girl, I mean "little" went by me like I was backing up.
I caught up to her at the town square. She is fifteen and has been
riding seriously for about three years. She weighs 80lbs, stands
5'2" and was riding a factory custom Orbea.
I told her I was going to give my bike away and walk home from
    the shame!
