Why I Don't Buy Event Jerseys ( Fit )

This is a 2XL (XXL) in the Voler brand. This is the Breathless Agony jersey I earned and had to fight to get. The dealer realized their mistake and did sell me the jersey at a good discount.

Anyway, I got it, tried it on and as I figured, doesn't fit. This is as high as the zipper will go. I have another jersey (Gan) that Gina wears on rides. It was a gift years ago but never fit so she wears it for me.

The plan was figuring the new jersey wouldn't fit, have Gina wear it for me so that she would be representin'. She says she'll feel funny thinking that other riders might think she did the ride. I told her that her body and the jersey are mine and I'll use them anyway I want. If they ask, we'll tell them the jersey is mine but doesn't fit.

I've had others tell me the 2XL in the Voler brand would fit me. All questions are answered now, they don't as I had figured. The only time I'll ever buy another event jersey wil be another earned finisher's jersey. That will be the California Triple Crown jeresy when I do it. Of course Gina will have to wear that jersey too for me.

Too small, zipper won't go up. Fits like the jersey in the lower pic of Gina representin' my Gan jersey. Even at my lightest weight of 218, they don't fit and they don't make them any bigger.

Also my jersey

I share your displeasure with ill-fitting cycling jerseys ... I know they're typically snug fitting, but to call it a 2X and have it fit like that???

Yeah, but the guys that do these rides are usually 130 soaking wet so I don't think the distributors plan on us voluptuous climbing clydes.

But there is a big difference in the Performance 2XL vs this Voler brand. I was expecting it or I'd have been brokenhearted.

Voluptuous ... I like that

So Performance's 2XL is pretty true to size?

I hate that in many brands (especially non-us) I'm a 3x or more. Hell, my chest is only a 46-48. How is that 3X? I mean I've seen some of these that have XL being 41-43. Those skinny kids should be like a medium or something, but they don't want to insult the really skinny people by making them order XXS or whatever.

Yup! I do have one blue that is reeeeeal long. It's a 2xl but different from the others. Maye it slipped by an inspector at production? I actully like it, never comes close to lifting in the back.

I feel the same way. In-N-Out tshirts are 2XL, Peformance jerseys 2XL but in non US/Euro I'd be a 5XL.

Then to top it off, we have to pay and extra 2 bucks for a slightly larger size (eg. In-N-Out tshirt). I don't understand that. They are saving material in the xsmall.

I will as well. I need jerseys that are longer. I have some that fit around me but aren't long enough. I'm only 6'3, but I guess I have a longer than average torso to go with my monkey arms (dress shirts I run a 37 arm).

Wow. I guess when you hear about jersey group buys on BF, there is usually some discussion of whether people want Club Fit or.... is it Race Fit? Something like that. I suppose the BA jerseys are Race Fit. (Race Fit, I think, assumes a basic racer build; i.e., skinny upper bodies.)

or as I like to call them, skinny little twig boys.

actually, I'm not bitter about the fact that I used to be that skinny, I just read that way sometimes on these here interwebs because tone of voice doesn't come across.

Wow... i nteresting. Beanz--I would have thought I have a larger chest/shoulders than you (sz 50 sport coat). I wear our team's XXL jersey. It's tight, but actually has a little room in shoulders. It's by Biemme. And last year's was by Pactimo. I thought they were the smallest around.

Yeah, you're a pretty big guy but much taller. I'm about 6'1 and you 6'4? But there really isn't much difference in our weight. I can run 255 down to 220, and you might be 270 down to 230 when we were climbing.

I've always had a problem with clothes. When I was 185 (23 yo) I couldn't buy pants at a dept store. Had a hard time getting over my thighs and if I did, wouldn't zip up. I just look little

Funny, I just looked at my coats. This one is from 11 years ago. It's tight, especially around the back of the shoulders. It's a 50 size.

Same with rings. I couldn't walk into a jeweler to buy my wedding band. I had to special order the size 12 eventhough my hands don't look that big.

The height vs. chest/waist drop is a consistent issue with big guys. Most clothing shops assume that Big & Tall means that you're both, when many of us are either/or. I'm having a tough time figuring out kit sizing for my team now that I've dropped a bunch of weight. When I was 250 pounds, a 2XL jersey and bibs fit me great; and most companies will list 2XL as their appropriate size for someone 6'6" and up. Problem is that 2XL is saggy baggy at the waist these days even though it's borderline for the fit at the chest. (I do not have mighty Mr. Beanz arms, so sleeves fit me pretty well.) 6'6" and 12" drop (48" chest, 36" waist) isn't something most cycling companies count on when making their generic fit templates; so I get a choice... A little too short in the waist, saggy like a tent around the midsection, or get myself some big gold medallions and wear it "disco Beanz" style as displayed above

You know Beanz, it's those ripped biceps and pecks of yours. I’m 6’3” and usually can fit in most XL’s unless they are race cut. When I get up near 250 everything but my gut still fits!

Think that's bad? My brother lives in the Philippines, and is a 6', 350 pound American Farmboy, and the average XL wearer in the Philippines is 5' even, buck ten weight, if they're BIG! I have an XL T from there, and it would size as a small medium, here.

It's funny that you see other people and think they are bigger. You at 6'3 , I'd think my sutff would be too small for you. Funny, when I played in the volleyball leagues, guys 3 inches taller than me would ask my height. Standing in front of me towering over me by 3 inches, they'd ask if I was 6'6 and 300 pounds? ...........

So funny, some people think I'm real small and others think I'm real big. I'm so confused.
