Tire Pressure For Clydes ~ Race Lite Hardcase and Gatorskins

I have always ran Conti Gatorskins and have enjoyed them. I had to replace a tire this week and LBS guy talked me into trying Bontrager Race Lite Hardcase... I mounted it on rear wheel, max pressure 120, when I sit on the bike it flattens out a little... Is this normal? The Gatorskins seem so firm and don't appear to flatten out at all... then again, the Race Lites fealt great riding, not like a flat tire or underinflated.

All rear tyres should flatten out a little. Its all because of your weight, and the pressure you put on it. It took me a while to get used to it too.

Bike Load Weight distribution guide
Front Rear
Randonneur bike - 45% 55%
Racing bike - 40% 60%
City bike rear 35% 65%

A tire drop of roughly %15 or flattening out is optimal by some estimates.

So yes, it should be expected.

I did a 25 miler today and it was great! I'm thinking about getting another Race Lite for the front now. I guess I never really paid attention, I experimented with my other wheel putting more weight on it and it does the same. Silly me!
