Running out of excuses,lol

I`ll be posting pictures as soon as I figure it out. I`m finally about to get my trek 1000 w/carbon fork up to speed. Upgrades as follows. seat,b17(highly recommended), seat post, wheels:mavic open pro, ultegra hubs,32h. Went with190 cranks, 105 pedals, shimano shoes. Sigma wired computer w/cadence, rear light, front light. New riding shorts. R500 shifters, best upgrade yet. Experimenting with cassette, down to 12-28 from 11-30(original 12-26).New chain, ultegra chain rings.Currently long cage rear derailleur to accomodate larger cassette for 10 mile loop with 4 big hills. New brake pads and chain. Have had a great time upgrading and learning about my bike, oh yeah racelite tires on one set and gators on another. Its a 63cm frame. These upgrades have been done over a period of time. Got the original bike for small change and really liked the way it felt. The improvements have all made a difference, each one adding to a more pleasureable ride and helping to accomplish goals. If you`ve done the same or similiar lets hear about it.

The cranks came from High Sierra, great folks to deal with, Tom is very knowledgeable and helpful. Longer cranks are a bit controversial for some but after looking into it, it made since that a person with a longer inseam could benefit from longer cranks, so far so good. None of the issues around knee strain or pain. Immediately saw an increase in mph and cadence is up to 78 average from 72. The cadence being from learning to spin and watching the computer, definitely helps to improve. Long way to go, but having fun getting there. After changing cranks and seat went back to lbs to be fit professionally. Lbs owner asked about the cranks, after checking fit said that everything, angles etc, looked real good(slight adjustments). The high sierra cranks are a fraction cost wise of other comparable cranks, very high quality. Machining is done in house.

190!!!

Seems huge for a 63 cm bike. I have 175s on my 60 cm bike. I think I used to be able to maintain a higher cadence when I had 172.5 but that could be that I was 10 years younger, LOL.

If it works for you though, keep at it.
