Bib Shorts

Is there a difference in quality between the bib shorts from love2pedal vs aerotech? I have aerotech bib-tghts and mtb shorts but noticed the love2pedal bibshorts are the same for 2 as aerotech is for one.
Thank you

Does it matter? Love2Pedal's two-for-$64 Falconi bib shorts are great!

I've been wearing the Falconi shorts exclusively for the last couple of years and have no complaints about their quality or comfort...

There is really no way to answer that question. Each person will love/hate a particular bib/short brand. I heard nothing but glowing praises for the Pearl Izumi stuff. Bought a pair and wore them once. Luckily I bought them from REI so they took them back with no hassle.
It kinda sucks but the only way to find what is right for you is trial and error. Hopefully you find what you like quickly.
Just pray that you are different from me. My VERY FIRST pair of bibs were perfect for me. They are Nike. But, I bought them from the discount rack at the LBS. Didn't dawn on me why they might be on the discount rack until much later--they were discontinued. Now I have one pair of bibs that I love but can never find more of, and a couple of pairs that I can live with. . .If I have to. . .I guess. . .

Picked up a couple pair of the Falconi bibs from Love2Pedal recently and they are great. Sizing is as stated on the site. They give a 5% Clyde discount (code is "CLYD"). They are a nice weight and the pad is great. Haven't tried Aerotech but I've got PI, de Marchi, Craft, Castelli and Performance bibs and shorts and I'd rate the Falconi bibs equal to the best of them and better than many. I'm just over 6' and like that the Falconi bibs are a bit longer than other brands (leg length as well as straps). If you are on the short side, this may be an issue.

I wear the luv2pedal ones...they are fantastic and I have not had any issues with them at all.

I think the discount is actually $5 not 5%...

That's correct. $5. Plus the first time I ordered I got a cool little cycling key chain/bottle opener for free. And both times I ordered I got a coupon for money off my next order, but I haven't used it because the fine print says it can't be combined with the CLYD (or any other) discount.

Thank you all, I ordered one pair of the Love2pedal bibs so hopefully they work out!

Let us know! I'm almost ready to make the plunge to spandex.......

Just tried the Nasbar Gel rides ones (http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product...1_10000_202491). They are nice, better than what I'd tried before (Love2pedal shorts, haven't tried their bibs), but far from perfect. Will continue experimenting. I wish the photos on the store websites showed the shape of the chamois - that's been my problem with both the shorts and bibs I bought online - the shape of the chamois isn't what I want...

Love2Pedal upgraded me from standard bib shorts to the Falconis for free, yay!

Pelotoner 06-21-11 10:58 PM

I have two pair of Falconi bibs and they are great. They fit true and they are comfortable on the long rides.

They upgraded for me as well, the customer service is fantastic and delivery was quick!

never even noticed there was a regular and a deluxe, what is the difference?

First of all, thanks everybody for the kind words about the bibs.

The difference between the regular and deluxe are this:

Regular uses standard stitching, Deluxe uses flatlock stitching which lays flatter against the skin (and the flatlock stitching comes in a variety of colors).

The upper on the Deluxe uses a nicer lycra/mesh. The regular uses just lycra.

The Deluxe is cut a little lower in the front in the stomach area. Possibly making the Deluxe bibs slightly cooler in hot weather and a little easier to pee. But if your stomach needs more support, then the regular style might be better.

Both styles use the same Coolmax multidensity seatpad (midweight) and both use the same lycra fabric for the shorts portion.

Hope this info helps.

Dan

Thanks for the detailed info, Dan. Another example of your stellar service. :)

BTW, here's my Falconi Deluxe Bibs and Primal Wear Crankin' Stein jersey (both from Love2Pedal) in action at the Tour de Cure a couple of weeks ago. Obviously I went for the yellow stitching to match the bike:

I forgot to add that they upgraded my shipping too, it got to Poland faster than a package my buddy sent from Sweden!

Rock31 06-23-11 06:44 AM

just an overall outstanding company, when it's time for another Jersey I will certainly be sticking with them!

jgalak 06-23-11 09:37 AM

Dan - do the bibs use the same shape pad as the shorts?

This depends on the model of Falconi shorts you have.

If the Falconi shorts have a gray seat pad, then that is the same seat pad on all the bibshorts we sell too

If the Falconi shorts have a red seat pad, this pad is used just on some of the shorts models and not in any of the bibshorts we sell.

Each listing for shorts or bibshorts will have a picture of the seat pad within the listing.

Bib Shorts and Jersey from Love2Pedal @ Tour de Cure....happy I found a picture from the event since I did not have a camera with me and I went solo.

jgalak 06-24-11 11:32 AM

Thanks, Dan. Somehow I missed the picture of the pad. The shorts I got from you have the red pad, and it's not very comfortable, I'll try one with a gray pad, see if that's better.

Rock31 06-24-11 02:00 PM

I never tried the ones with the red pad, but the gray pad ones are amazing. They are very comfortable.

CraigB 06-24-11 02:37 PM

The one pair of Falconi Deluxes I have has the gray pad, FWIW.

jps6882 06-25-11 07:13 AM

As I'm just getting in to biking, what is the difference between bibs and shorts. Other than the obvious. Why would one choose the bibs over the shorts? More compression; more support?
